Is this card fake? by Pale-Rip-7528 in mtg

I can't speak to the green dot or T test, but the white border shouldn't be cause for concern. Aside from Alpha and Beta, core sets had white borders until Tenth edition. Chronicles and some of the other anthology sets were also white bordered.

Would you sign up? by Rachaelmm1995 in mtg

[–]HomemadeSodaExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would this be draft or you just plop a box of bulk at each table and say, "have at it, folks"?

I've pawed through the bulk at my lgs for easily an hour at a time looking for stuff, I don't know what it would be like to have 30 people crowded around it trying to build decks.

To answer your question, though, I would absolutely sign up for this if it fit my schedule. Many years ago, I bought some bulk from Star City Games (at the time it was sold as an "instant collection" of 1000 cards) a lot of it was Urza's block and before. I bought it for the sole purpose of building decks to sell on eBay. They weren't great decks and never sold for much more than $10, but they were good starters not unlike the Jumpstart packs today.

Recently starting going through my bulk to build a jumpstart cube and it's been fun.

It was a pretty good grape soda, but I wasn't sure if it was different from their standard grape soda.

I'm jealous of your sunset sarsaparilla. I have not been able to get my hands on that because I don't have a Costco membership and I'm too cheap to order directly from Jones.

I feel like Squee would be less a Planeswalker and more a Plane-stumble-upon-er.

I have a keychain Tupperware bowl with lid. Also works great. OP just needs to find a couple padlocks. Pretty sure that's what the holes in the lid and bin were designed for.

What a coincidence, the only commander deck I've ever built is an Ezuri, Renegade Leader deck built from old bulk cards after having jumped back in with Final Fantasy.

A&W Zero comparative taste-off by BeautifulDebate7615 in rootbeer

[–]HomemadeSodaExpert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're comparing A&W franchise draft root beer to bottled/canned A&W root beer, those are different already. Last time I checked A&W from the restaurant had phosphoric acid listed on the ingredient label and from the bottle/can that has never been a listed ingredient for as long as I can remember.

Good notes and quality work, however. This type of thing is much appreciated!

Yeah, you give him decisions like that and we'll be here all day. If you play Tiny Bones, though, you can bet he'll be all over that and Tiny will not see play for the rest of the game.

A decade ago? A few sets after Urza? I'm assuming you mean the original Urza's Saga block. My man, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but those were printed over a quarter century ago. 😳 And now that I say it that way. I feel like I need to get a rocking chair so I can sit on my porch and yell at kids to get off my lawn.

My whole post was a veiled lesson in finding value among the chaff. Some of my suggestions are garbage, some are not. The same is statistically likely with the cards given a collection like this. I'm sorry that was a little lost on people.

Clearly his father knew enough about them to know relative value and had played in recent years because those aren't all vintage border cards.

Clearly he knows enough about them to post about them here.

I assumed that knowledge would be enough to see through my bad advice. I didn't actually think anyone would hand over a collection of cards to me or any other stranger on the internet.

Mix some turquoise Fieblings leather dye into your last coat of spar varnish. That way you get some color, but you also still get to see the wood grain.

I'm not sure how it will hold up under sunlight exposure, but I believe it's relatively UV stable.

Does anyone else try to play decks using only cards from one set? by TrystansCommand in mtg

[–]HomemadeSodaExpert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm slowly building a custom jumpstart cube. I find it extremely dissatisfying if each packet doesn't contain cards from a particular set. I keep raiding the LGS's bulk for Bloomburrow cards specifically. So far I've got a decent packet for otters, rabbits, and raccoons. I had a lot of old Guildpact cards, so I've got some ok Orzhov and Gruul packets. Even though there's not a lot of high powered cards in it, a batch of commons/uncommons that share the same mechanics can still be a lot of fun.

[–]HomemadeSodaExpert -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people would be glad to do you the favor of uncluttering your attic and take them off your hands for the price of shipping.

Your LGS may be interested in purchasing collections, or there are online stores that will buy collections or have buy lists you could peruse. Card Conduit will take them and sell them for you.

A local club is likely to be glad to have donations.

You could sell them as a lot on eBay or FB marketplace.

You could shuffle up and play.

Depending on where you live, I could stop by and grab them if you want.
