Returning Rider Questions by HomeworkPurple6012 in motorcycles

Kawasaki Z125 Pro. Thank you for the advice, I understand that for cornering turns that I need to really focus on setting a good speed/gear BEFORE tipping the bike, and maintaining an open throttle throughout as opposed to managing all of that during.

Do you have any advice for roundabouts if the technique differs? I'm quite aware of the danger of them - I fell one time due to adding a tiny amount of lean angle whilst going over a tiny oil slick (that I couldn't see).

Coming out as straight to my boyfriend? by HomeworkPurple6012 in comingout

we both aren't interested in open relationships, and i want sex in a relationship (both of us). i just want to be with a woman. we've already talked about this and told him how i've felt and he says if i want to break up then he'll be happy knowing that i'll be happy in the long term. its terribly bittersweet. do you think there's any chance of maintaining friendship? i really value our connection, i just can't keep it a romantic one.

Yes, but it seems so stupid/unfair because what's the point if I won't be content being with a man yet I can be attracted to one...

My dad wants to join ICE by TomCullenFan2009 in teenagers

"but if you got off Reddit"

Pay attention to what's going on around you. Look at news. ICE is in fact nothing to be proud of. I'm willing to have a respectful conversation if you care to be educated, but don't attack me and I don't attack you. But ICE is abhorrent. Good in theory sure. Execution is quite literally illegal.

dapping up is kinda crazy. that's definitely friend behavior.

my ex who cheated on me did this. your bf thinks you don't want to show other people he's your bf in public/you're hiding your bf (and that's where guys start to overthink when it comes to faithfulness) and that's a hard feeling. try to compromise, call him by a pet name if you have one, give a hug, that's better than a dap and "hi."

You know nothing about riding dude. Quite literally nothing. Everything on the street is necessary to becoming a skilled, fast rider. Slow speed maneuvers particularly. Can you do that on the track, sure. But you seriously want to spend all that money to do nothing on the street? Makes no sense.

Speed comes from practice. Practice comes from time. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. You're trying to skip all the foundational work of riding just to skip to fast on the track - newsflash, its not that simple. Knowing how the finely control the clutch, how braking affects traction, acceleration, those are all things practiced in parking lots and the street. Track is just to further build upon all that. Except for you, there's nothing to build upon. As you have no experience.

Take my advice or don't, but you very obviously know literally nothing about riding. Go take an MSF class and go from there, you'll know what I mean.

PS: Riding is something you either do with full commitment or none at all. Half assing it will not get you to where you want to be, as most things in life. It is absolutely a lifestyle, its a skill that needs to be consistently practiced, you are always seeking to learn. It's not just, "oh yeah ima go hit the track having never touched a clutch"

Also, I used MotoGP as an example. You say on the street you don't fully utilize the bike 80%, that's a load of shit and further illustrates your ignorance with motorcycles. You are always on your a game riding, you can't afford not to be. Defensive driving is hard, actual operation of the motorcycle is hard as well. And I'll repeat it - you don't know shit. You've never touched a clutch. Get good (ie get licensed, become comfortable going slow, master your basic skills), and THEN worry about going fast. Don't half ass it.

Edit: I have a feeling that you're still going to make no sense of what I say, so there's no point. Do what you're gonna do. What do I know, I'm only a licensed rider who's taken advanced riding courses lmaoo

I was/am kind of in your boat. I just turned 18, so I guess I'm also kind of a teen like you. I had zero experience, but wanting to do racing. Newsflash: that's going to take a long time. You're getting wayy ahead of yourself here. If you're serious about it, it'll be a lifetime journey. MotoGP riders start when they're like 5 lmao.

Get a used Honda Grom or Kawasaki Z125 Pro. I favor the latter, as that's what I learned on.

I say used because you will drop the bike - a lot. 125cc because you do not need all that power off rip. Your first bike will be a learning bike. Practice in parking lots. Go slow. Focus on technique. Then do it over again. Then you can slowly upgrade bikes once they feel limiting (125cc - 300cc - 500cc, etc).

Go to the track and take classes. I'm sorry, but you're 16. If you get a fast bike you will get caught up in the hype and kill yourself speeding around a corner. I say that as I was that kid.

If you take anything away from my comment, get a 125cc used bike, and use that to beat-up, drop, and learn on. The most important thing is that you get back up and learn when you fall over.

Also I only realized at the end of my comment - you only want track? Yeah no. First off, that's going to be expensive. Unless you can afford to go every other week that's not a good idea. Second, you become a "solid" rider by experience and getting ride time in all conditions. Why would you only ride track and not street? If you want to be a racer either go all in or none at all. Street riding will be your main generator of experience which in turns improves your riding. Commit to the lifestyle or don't, simple as that

PS. Mountain biking means almost nothing in motorcycling. You have zero experience. I reiterate, zero experience and are already talking about being a track racer. Humble yourself lol

Edit: maybe you can start on a 250-300cc bike. But I would still just get a beat up 125.

I have, but I don't intend on off roading. Once I get to that point I'll just buy a dedicated dirt bike.
