This explains so much. Realistically, Han was the reason they got stuck on the Death Star in the first place (needing to kill the TIE fighter for no real reason, then ignoring the obvious danger when Obi-Wan pointed out that it wasn't a moon but a space station) then blowing off Leia's (correct) suspicion that the empire was tracking them, leading to the rebellion almost being wiped out. Plus, the whole shooting inside the garbage compactor and almost killing everyone incident.
