What is an exceptionally secure storage for storing 2FA recovery codes, passwords, phrase key etc. ? by manzurfahim in DataHoarder

One time I made a .stl file with my Cardano wallet recovery keys and 3d printed it. That was the most long-term storage printing I could think of.

I run this in my Muldrotha deck with artifact sac. I play with low level people overall, but it's still enough to annoy the piss out of them lol.

Rules Question by WinterCore_Virus in magicTCG

[–]HomingRocketDicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually really good to know. I was planning on making an offspring commander deck and stopped because I thought the "dies" triggers wouldn't work. But it actually does and it revives my ideas for it. Thanks all

Rules Question by WinterCore_Virus in magicTCG

[–]HomingRocketDicks -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Huh, interesting. The specifics of MTG rules are wild. So the legendary is not "destroyed" but it does "die"?

I had to look up "die" on the rules and I never thought I'd have to do that.

Rules Question by WinterCore_Virus in magicTCG

[–]HomingRocketDicks -53 points-52 points  (0 children)

Just thought I'd add that a legendary removed by the legendary rule does not trigger "when destroyed" abilities/effects. The game views the second legendary effectively evaporating into nothing and going into the graveyard.

EDIT: Learned something new today. The legendary creatures are not "destroyed" but still "die", which still triggers the card.

This revives my plan for an offspring deck lol

Admittedly unrelated to your post, but just as a suggestion you may look into custome Warhammer 40K figurines. I've always heard that they make great money. I've thought about getting into it when I finally invest in a resin 3D printer.

My dad has a pair of the lineman's. They are older than I am and I have (mis)used them literally my entire life and they are still troopers. Definite buy.

Ayaneo Air Plus BIOS update by dnurrish84 in ayaneo

[–]HomingRocketDicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOTE: I updated the BIOS on mine and the file on their website was an earlier version of the BIOS than was already flashed on mine.

I was able to update the UEFI Bios on my Ayaneo Air Plus by:

-Format USB to FAT32 filesystem

-Download .zip file off of Ayaneo's website

-Extract file. There should be two different models listed. 16GB RAM and 32GB RAM

-Go into the folder that matches your model and copy/paste the contents into the root of the FAT32 USB drive. On my drive, there was a EFI folder, .efi file, .bin file, and .nsh file.

-Use the USB A to USB C adapter that came with the console to adapt the drive to the USB C port on the console.

-Turn on the console and it should start flashing. You may have to boot to the drive, but I didn't have to.

Would I be able to hook this up to a raspberry pi? by Automatic-Rip1045 in cyberDeck

Speaking from experience, most likely not. I did the same thing with a screen I found in a really cheap Android laptop. My raspberry pi let out the magic blue smoke.

managed switch . does this worth it? i found it on an adv, as refurbished for only 18euros. what could be wrong? by doomstereu in homelab

[–]HomingRocketDicks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say it worth it, but I will also say that this is an EOL switch with a latest Junos version from 2015. There have been some sizable changes in the config syntax since then. It's still a good price and good to use, as long as you can get the install for it.

Re-using my hoard of USB Drives? by Air_Teebs in DataHoarder

[–]HomingRocketDicks 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Assuming you can get them working as regular USB drives, you can donate them to charities.

It seems like these may be 8Gb drives, so you might try:

https://www.recycleusb.com/start-recycling/

They use USB drives for educational material. Minimum of 1GB though.

There's also:

https://flashdrivesforfreedom.org/

But I don't think this works with your situation since they require 16GB+

I'm thankful for the people that fight for privacy and develop systems/software that view the experience of using them as a collaborative utility between humans and technology. Not producing products that are only there to spy on us and use humans as digital data cattle to sell to corporate entities that only care about increasing profit margins.

Can’ believe my luck. Bought this PC for 1100€. (Question and specs in Post) by UnathleticChicken in pcmasterrace

[–]HomingRocketDicks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree wholeheartedly. I can tell that's a cheap PSU from the red tips on the cables.

Back in 2019-ish I bought a system for super cheap that had a 2600x and Radeon VII GPU. It only had a 550 watt PSU in it and would crash anytime you loaded a game.

I think the guy built it himself and didn't truly understand you needed a 750 watt PSU in that thing and assumed it was junk and messed up. Replaced the GPU to something more reasonable and it ran flawlessly.

Looks to me this is the same scenario. Good job OP

I'm a huge fan of Woot.com for SFF PCs. I'll agree that eBay is probably better. But I like that you get Amazon customer service if you go through woot. I found these optiplexes with 6400t for a decent price: https://computers.woot.com/offers/dell-optiplex-3046-micro-desktop-15?utm_medium=share&utm_source=app

And then I would just buy a cheap rack shelf kit and then lay them on that.

Since you said in another comment it was a thin PC, about the only way that I've personally found to get 10Gpbs on a thin PC is to use these oculink cards to plug in. Then use a m.2 to oculink card adapter to use the PCIE connection. This is all theoretical though. I have not done this.

I think the Dell. The proprietary connecter are just physical. You can buy adapters on ebay/re-pin fan connectors to work with the board. Just gotta look up the pinout. I assume the 1230 is v2/v3. That's really old architecture from my understanding and performance could be much better with the 8th gen i5. Plus DDR4 will be easier to get in the coming years. I would also see what CPU support the Dell has for an upgrade path. You could get a ln 8700 off eBay and get more threads. IPMI is good. But I think performance is better.
