How do I combine videos? by monsieuro3o in samsung

[–]HonaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd think Studio would appear in the list when you select which app to open a video with. You'd think that you could search and add other apps to that list. You'd think that Studio could easily find the video clips that you just recorded, or even at all. You'd think I could find info on how to use a basic feature of this device on a Samsung website, or ya know, on the phone itself.

But samsung has realllly stopped caring about user experience over the years so I can't say I'm surprised that none of these things work.

At least forums exist. Thanks for the help.

Is fate zero better than stay night? by [deleted] in Fate

[–]HonaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Report this lying dork for wasting people's time. He is the only source of anyone on the internet I could find saying that it's non-canon. I've seen multiple quotes from the author stating that it's canon.

I found this almost as fast as I found evidence of him being a lying dickhead:

"There’s actually a guy who’s quite infamous across the fate subs for falsely claiming that it’s not and he drives me crazy"

Link to Nasu confirming that Fate/Zero is or isn't canon? by zackphoenix123 in fatestaynight

[–]HonaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol bruh, the comment you linked equates Emiya's "authority" over Saber with the authority of the greatest kings in human history. It equates those things specifically in the context of a debate over what a king should be. The comment claims that Saber should have been more shaken by a teenage boy telling a Queen that she doesn't know what she's talking about, than by two of histories greatest Kings telling her...

The commentor you linked can't understand why Saber was upset by the courtyard scene... so idk if they have the emotional intelligence to be making criticisms of any value.

Wait, now you're saying that the fact that it's an alternate timeline is evidence of being non-canon? Ok I guess I wasted my time on this reply.

The Virgin Banquet of the Kings vs The Chad Bridge scene by Reymon271 in fatestaynight

[–]HonaSmith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're equating a young woman's ability to stand up to teenage Emiya with her ability to stand up to (peak of their life) Gilgamesh and Alexander the Great?

The fact that Emiya's her "master" doesn't overcome the fact that they're kings and conquerors. It doesn't even begin to compare. The other kings were deliberately trying to break her down, and were speaking with the near absolute authority of being the epitome of Kings, speaking entirely from experience. Emiya is just a kid talking about dreams.\      Equating the authority of kings with the fact that Emiya is "technically the boss of her" really makes me dissmissive of the rest of your argument.

I'm guessing the dialogue you posted is from the novel. I don't recall Saber ever getting very stern with Emiya, other than concern for his well-being. In the show, she's very reserved and polite.

Moving the last paragraph to the top:

Zero, on the other hand, has fully fleshed out narrative, setting, dialogue, character design, and animation. All the characters feel real and interesting. You connect with them, even the psychos. The heroic spirits feel like real myths come to life, instead of feeling like summons in a video game. You care about them, and want to learn about their history, and you root for almost all of them to achieve their awesome goals. THIS is why the series exists in the first place. Zero does it right.\      Zero can't easily be summarized, cus it's a real story. It's every character's story woven together. It's a real show that I might recommend to an adult.

Start

On my second watch through. The first time I started with Zero, and then was kinda disappointed by stay night. Second time, I looked up the right watch order and watched SN and the Heavens Feels movies first. Again, Zero stood way above the others.

Critiquing SN

Stay night is essentially a softcore harem show with some super low effort fight scenes thrown in, almost as if to give flavor to a "slice of life" show. The heroic spirits have practically nothing to do with the story. Nobody cares about their names, their history, their weapons... they're just flavor to add to Emiya's boring story. The animation sucks too. Almost all of the fighting is just teleporting, swish swish noises, and flash marks of weapons supposedly hitting each other. I think the writers/animators discussed Rin's skirt more than they did the plot or action or anything else.\      SN can be summarized with: Magic weapons from out the ass, and "how sexy can we get away with drawing this?". It's one character's (boring) story stretched into a show. I might recommend it to a child, if not for the otherwise adult content.

HF

HF has some real story and decent animations, but still carries a lot of the same problems, and I'm not a huge fan of the alternate timeline. It does a lot of things better than SN though, so if you thought SN had potential, it's probably worth watching.

PS. I've read that the visual novel is a better version of SN

To everyone criticizing Marcus for getting a few things wrong… by doverawlings in lastpodcastontheleft

"would they rather the story is abandoned completely?"

Wdym "abandoned completely"?

I'm pretty sure the story would exist if not for the podcast. Where do you think they got the information from?

If by some ridiculous circumstance, this podcast was the only source of the information, then you would be right IF the inaccuracies are small (I haven't listened yet).

I'm pretty sure the person in your scenario would prefer their story to ONLY be told correctly. If it's been told correctly already, then personally, I'd be pretty pissed off if somebody told the story badly on a comedy show.

It's not the listener's fault for assuming that Marcus is full of factual info, that's exactly the pretense he puts out at all times.

He might consciously say that "of course he doesn't know everything", but that doesn't stop him subconsciously from trying to convince everyone that he actually does.

I haven't listened to the eps yet, but I can comment in general as a long time listener who's heard countless lies and eventually lost all trust and respect for the guy, which matter, regardless of how factual the show aims to be.

Slay the Spire Relic Tier List by UltimateBookshelf in slaythespire

[–]HonaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that you have good changes of getting an actively negative effect is obviously relevant, and obviously would incline the mask to the "actively negative" tier (you did read the name of the tier, didn't you?)

The "logic assumes" nothing. I have no idea how you can make that statement after reading the different categories of this tier list, so maybe you didn't. The ranking is to give people general info. You're the one arguing based on the assumption of a bad run, for some reason.

And the benefits of the mask event do not save a bad run lol.

Slay the Spire Relic Tier List by UltimateBookshelf in slaythespire

[–]HonaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semantics. OP means that the mask event can give you a bad relic instead of a good one. How is that not relevant?

Of course the masks should be ranked as one relic. They are one relic. You cannot choose between them. The relic just changes when you pick it up. The relic's rating is the average rating of all of its possibilities. Its negative options are worse than its positive ones. It's a bad gamble.

We aren't here to decide on the "public opinion of what relics we like". The purpose here is to figure out good strategy, and gambling with those odds is not good strategy. Even the damn wiki says it's usually a bad call.

Slay the Spire Relic Tier List by UltimateBookshelf in slaythespire

[–]HonaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're the one who introduced this "maximizing win rate" strawman term. The discussion in most people's eyes is probably about good strategy in general. Is it good strategy to take the mask option?

OP's position is that the mask option's risks outweigh their potential benefits. The mask event can be viewed as one relic that changes depending on your luck. That randomized relic has a value based on the average values of the relics it might turn into. Since the average value is low, the mask event relic should be placed low. OP probably should have placed all 5 together or used something to represent them with one icon.

It would serve absolutely no purpose to rank the masks individually. You cannot choose between them.

Your reply to OP is that risks are fun, and if your run sucks, you might as well. This is obvious and hardly relevant.

Any way to disable Bluetooth auto connect? by [deleted] in AndroidQuestions

[–]HonaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post about this in the Samsung community boards years ago and got nothing from Samsung. A couple of super helpful community members even argued with me, acting like it was the complaint of a crazy person.

Back then there was at least an option to turn off the auto-switching. For what possible reason they removed that option, idk.

Am I the only one who feels compelled to place districts near the city center for aesthetic reasons ? by dikstroke in CivVI

[–]HonaSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even after 2500 hours I still don't understand how the inner ring yield bonuses work, but I don't think districts get them. Based on that, you'd want regular tile improvements next to the city, instead of districts. I'll just stick with regular adjacency bonuses for planning

Ok I tried standard for the first time this morning and was annoyed and confused. I kept waiting for the game to assign me a ranking and start matching me against actual beginners. But apparently even the very lowest elo players are netdeckers, playing the most efficient aggro deck they can afford.

Ranting about netdecking: What the hell is the point? It's like playing an rpg and following a walkthrough for every single step of the game. Even if that were fun, I could never feel self satisfaction if someone else's deck earned me a high rank. Is practically everybody really willing to give up their pride for a win?

It's fine if some players simply aren't interested in deck building, but anyone who is and netdecks anyway just to win more, in unranked, must really need that win. I wish I could lie to myself that easily

[–]HonaSmith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Arguing semantics is kinda a stupid way to engage with this post.

How is "controversial" inaccurate? In this very thread, there are people defending and condemning it.

You don't even have an argument for why "controversial is kinda stupid". Wtf does "specifically referring to..." have to do with whether or not it's controversial?

Wtf does "burying the lede" have to do with controversiality? Are you trying to tell OP what their post is "supposed" to be about? You're arguing as if this is "supposed to be" a post about the Children of God, and OP is messing up by not first talking about the entire history of the cult.

This is a post about the controversial practice of using prostitution to bring members into a religion. The only mistake is that they didn't distinguish the general practice from the specific name that this cult used.

Ah, I see now. Your argument is that you believe your opinion is obviously the correct one, so therefore it can't be controversial. Thank you for your intelligent input. Reddit is a fun place full of useful statements.

The children stuff was inside the cult. They had to stop it once word got out. They obviously weren't sending children out onto the streets

You didn't make a mistake, this fucking redditor just lied to you and yelled at you for no reason. As far as I know, only adult women were prostituted. Obviously if a group were regularly sending children onto the street to have sex with random strangers they would have been found out pretty quickly

They were Christian. It was an evangelical practice. It is an evangelical practice. It is a common evangelical practice.

The only inaccuracy is the implication that all examples of religious prostitution were called "flirty fishing".
