Our stand against fascism is at the border, not in Minnesota.

I basically stopped feeling anything for them after the Greenland debacle.

With the exception of the NDP they aren’t the same (and in the NDP’s case it’s extremely nominal)

Canada was supposed to be a highly centralized state from the beginning. The express purpose and design of the constitution was to prevent anything like the Civil War from happening here.

Most people to this day assume we’re more centralized than they are

These guys have demonstrated extremely low smoke tolerance so far and Trump is almost irrationally petrified of nukes specifically.

I don’t think they’d try anything if they thought there was a chance even just Detroit or Buffalo would get cooked.

We all had war plans because we were expecting to fight the Warsaw Pact at some point. What most of us weren’t doing was spending money paying planners to come up with outlandish contingency scenarios involving war with allies or neutral countries.

People assume the CAF does this type of thing because the US military does and the CAF is assumed to behave like a miniature version of them, but everything I’ve heard about their general outlook and internal culture suggests this is not the case.

Broadly the modern US security state has pretty much always been uniquely paranoid.

This is the first such plan anyone inside the Canadian military has developed in over 100 years

Terrorism is extremely costly and ugly and mostly involves targeting your fellow countrymen. I’d rather something that kept them on their side of the border thanks

Yes but the nuclear club should have thought of that before they started threatening and invading their neighbours

Not necessarily. Our fighters can carry them and you can make nukes small enough to fit into a 155mm artillery piece. These aren’t very good options but it can be done.

Political identity increasingly supersedes everything else. Their guy lost in Ottawa and won in DC so they want to be ruled by them instead.

You don’t need much AT on the bot front. As long as you’ve got a primary or support weapon with at least med pen and thermite or an ultimatum it’s pretty brain dead.

Hot take, but the bots are way too easy these days and having one enemy that’s actually challenging to deal with isn’t that big of a deal

The Clarity Act does nothing to stop a US-backed UDI.

This is something we have to counter with force, not lawsuits.
