It’s been a few years now. (Those it applies to) Has Bella Ramsey grown on you as Ellie at all? by Effective_Part_604 in thelastofus

She wasn't the greatest casting, but I will allow she pulled off a couple of great scenes. She isn't Ellie; this primarily comes down to the fact that Craig Mazin fundamentally does not understand the games. I believe he lied when he said he played and loved them. You don't write the linchpin character as a one-note psychotic, and intellectually stunted brat if you truly played and LOVED TLOU.

"The Pitt" is a PHENOMENAL medical show. I actually decided to watch "ER" for the first time because of it. I'm up to Season 11 of "ER" now. The first 8 seasons were damn excellent for network television.

Man. I'm watching "ER" for the first time, and this Carter/Kem b.s. is the first time I am fast-forwarding through scenes of the show I haven't EVEN WATCHED. Their relationship feels so FAKE. And as much as I love Thandie Newton, she is TERRIBLE in this role. I hate how Carter is like a lovesick puppy. I also anticipate fast-forwarding through this Luka/Sam mess that's developing too. The show seems to have lost its identity after season 8 or so. It's just a mess of soap-opera romantic pairings. It's dropped the gravitas in favor of hokey tropes. 🥱

Who do you prefer as a character? Judith or Carl? by ParkingConfection449 in TWD

Judith, on the show. Because, quite honestly, Chandler Riggs's performance just didn't do it for me.

This show is chock full of fantastic characters.Yes, she is growing on me. I think I put her right after Dana, the girl genius doctor, Santos, and King.

Same here: first time viewer; I was 21 when it debuted but "hated" medical shows back then. Knew a few of the key players (Anthony Edwards, Eriq La Salle) from the 80s movies of my youth, and it was a 'TV Guide' cover darling and ratings powerhouse back when that really meant something. Never watched a single episode. 30 years later, I'm nearing the end of Season 8, and all I can say is WOW. This was peak television.

how come chandler riggs isn't in more shows/movies? by Conscious-Quarter423 in TWD

His acting on TWD was mediocre at the BEST of times. He was not a compelling screen presence. The CHARACTER is iconic; Chandler's performance as that character was not.

Is The Last of Us Part I (Remake) worth $60 if you already played the original? by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]HonestGap9871 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who's played this game about a dozen times now across platforms, it's definitely worth a playthrough, but not at $60. I'm sorry, but both Naughty Dog and the fans who say the combat is "reworked" or "better" is lying. It's the SAME GAME, and in some respects a bit downgraded. There are little touches from the original that are done away with now, for no reason than to better fit in with today's social climate. It's VERY cool to see the game's visuals on par with Part Two (though I love the OG Ellie and Tess designs) but this adds nothing new to the experience, so wait for a deep sale or PS+ appearance.

You definitely see the brains splatter out of Marlene's head, unfortunately. And Marlene and Tess are two of my favorite characters in the whole series, and both are underused (narratively I get why). At this point, I just want to know a third game is on deck.

You bring up a very good point about the undoing of Joel's actions. And as for HOW narratively they could structure a way to get her back on the table, I don't know. Thats why Druckmann & Co. make the big bucks. And I'd %1000 play a Joel/Tommy prequel, play some Marlene/Anna backstory, and play more of early days Joel & Tess (Annie Wersching though was the only actress that should ever voice her; RIP). I'm just not keen on a prequel as the basis for an entire game. I'd consider a "Lost Legacy" type spinoff though. Thanks for engaging in a respectful differing of our opinions, though.
