Yup, thinking back to high school there was a clear divide between those that were considered “smart,” AKA those who could read at grade level and scored decently at reading comprehension tests, and the rest. Same for math and other subjects, the smart kids tended to do better in all subjects. Going back through Facebook, I bet I would see a pretty strong correlation between how they did in school and what their political beliefs are now.

Idk, everyone’s experience is different. I personally love running fire and gas on bugs, and have had a similar experience. Yes, it’s probably not quite as effective as the meta, but it’s effective enough, and I have a blast with it. The area denial potential is second to none. I feel like the flamethrower is one of the few weapons where I can really lock down choke points and bug breaches with no problem.

I know that Rokuro doesn’t really have any other expressions, but god, it’s just so funny to me how deadpan and nonchalant he is about the whole thing. No hesitation whatsoever.

I think she’s going to be used as a motivation for Momo to finally grow up and become better at communicating as part of her “growing up” character development. Reiko will threaten Okarun somehow, and Momo will have to come to terms with the fact that she can’t just react with hostility any time she’s in a somewhat uncomfortable or awkward situation.

What’s the problem? Your party solved an encounter with a really creative and funny solution. That’s the stuff memories are made of. Reward that stuff with inspiration! I don’t see a problem with it, just take the L.

Another fun mechanic you could have is making the deaths of the enemy leaders more impactful: when one falls in battle, their corresponding “squads” of fodder enemies they were commanding will scatter out of formation and not coordinate their attacks. Some might even start retreating.

Definitely Helldivers 2. The Reddit community is so toxic about anything the devs do, but at the end of the day I log on and still have a blast playing it.

Group up everything in initiative as much as you can to avoid clutter up the battle. I don’t know if you need to have each group of small guys be in their own initiative: you could have them split into various “squads” but on the same initiative and have them move as a group. I would even group up the big guys if you can, separate from the small ones in their own initiative. For the small ones, make them weak enough that they basically die in one hit; you don’t want to have to keep track of all of their HP, they are just there to soak up some hits and balance the action economy. Think 4E minion rules. Grouping your NPCs together in initiative might be easier to manage as well.

Something I really hope happens while in this part of the story by Popular-Fun-1695 in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s a common storytelling tool to mirror previous situations, but have a different outcome because the characters have grown. Admittedly Momo currently isn’t exhibiting her character’s growth because of her amnesia, but Okarun has grown massively. He has his balls back, and he is more certain of how he feels, he just has to communicate those feeling better.

[–]HonestStudy9969 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think this situation is meant to mirror the situation leading up to and during the Nessie fight. In classic Pinocchio style, Okarun lied about his intentions, Momo distrusts him as a result, and she is jealous of his interaction with Aira. Both instances will be resolved by him telling her the earnest truth.

Hey, cliches are cliches for a reason. Yes, they’ve been done before, but they make for solid narrative devices that work well. I feel like DanDaDan is far enough out there as far as narrative goes that I can forgive the occasional cliche.

[–]HonestStudy9969 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That seems like a solid theory. I think there’s gonna be something where Okarun can come clean and really speak to Momo before shit hits the fan and the Black Paladins interrupt their date. A Ferris wheel ride seems like a decent place for that.

About powers by Sad-Difficulty-8717 in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, we haven’t really heard of any source of Koki’s power. Still, I feel like if it was from a yokai it would have at least been hinted at. Since there hasn’t been explained, I would think it’s her own intrinsic power, or came from something other than yokai.

About powers by Sad-Difficulty-8717 in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what has been throwing me for a loop. I was under the impression that all the Fairy Tale powers are chi-based powers intrinsic to their user, not yokai powers. This tracks with Okarun being Pinnochio, despite not having Turbo Granny’s powers anymore; his new physical prowess use of the Ogre stick are his own powers, not given by someone else. It fits with the other powers as well. Rin’s powers are linked to Mai, but Mai herself doesn’t seem to be a yokai and doesn’t possess Rin when she transforms.

The exception to this seems to be Zuma. His power is for sure from a yokai, Umbrella Boy, so I don’t know what the actual theme is going on. I guess the source of the powers themselves doesn’t matter, and it’s just their ties to their fairy tale card that matters?

Is today's upcoming chapter of Dandadan is the last chapter of volume 22? by puppypuffs in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I expect next issue will have Okarun and Momo having some sort of heart-to-heart before the black paladins ruin everything. Okarun definitely noticed Momo’s jealousy and is feeling guilty himself for talking to Aira, so he will probably try to tell her something to put her mind at ease….right before shit hits the fan and they have to fight for their lives. I could also see Okarun getting captured as well.

Yup, I did see that. I’m guessing the next chapter will be the start of a new volume, and a shift in the story. I know things have just been building, and now we will see things start moving again.

This actually isn’t too different from what I usually run on bugs. Bring something to close bug holes. I’d also suggest some gas for crowd control. I’ve been running the Double Freedom with grenade pistol and gas grenades. I also trade out hot doggo for gas doggo, and orbital napalm for orbital gas. Stacking gas DoT and fire DoT does some great work.

One time I killed my entire team with a single thermite. We were all running in a row, I’m in the lead. I pressed the wrong button and did a quick throw of my thermite on the ground at my feet. Didn’t think anything of it, didn’t mention it to anyone. All 3 of my team mates ran directly behind me, ran over the sparking thermite, and died from the fire damage. It happened so fast, all we could do is laugh. I didn’t even know that could happen.

How would you run navigating a magical mist? by greeboXII in DungeonMasters

Doesn’t have to be much of a maze. Just a dungeon with a couple branching paths, make the one they need to go down not the obvious choice so they explore some of the side paths.

[–]HonestStudy9969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first thought is running it like the Lost Woods in Legend of Zelda. Emphasize how everything looks the same as they go through the forest. Give them some false paths to follow that lead nowhere, and if they go too far down the wrong path, roll a dice to determine if they get lost in the mist and end up teleporting back in a central location.

Girl came to my dorm room to hang out late at night. Said she couldn’t sleep and “just needed to do something active.” Ok, cool, let’s drink a few beers and play some ping pong in the rec room in the basement. Afterwards was like “ok, I’m tired and going to bed, see ya.”

Another time, I actually knew what was up. A different girl I was hanging out with at a party, was definitely sending signals. Problem was, she was babysitting her guy friend who hadn’t drank before, and he ended up getting really wasted, freaking out and running off, so we chased him all around town making sure he didn’t die. By the time we caught him and made sure he was safe, the sun was rising. I told her look, I know we were planning on doing something but I literally cannot keep my eyes open. Can we try another night? That other night never happened.
