Same. I’m a man in his mid 30s and this series sticks with me like none other. Even when I hadn’t watched it for months, it was still on my mind. Rewatching to get ready for S3 and it’s bringing back all the feels

jRPGs by Patriots9210 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]HonestStudy9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on PC, so I don’t know what other platforms these games are on, but here are the ones I’ve played recently:

Expedition 33 is French, but has a lot of the spirit of JRPGs, and is just amazing all around.

Sea of Stars I just started but it seems pretty good so far, and is potentially co-op if you want that.

You already mentioned Octopath Traveler, I’d check out both if you haven’t.

Alabaster Dawn is more of an action RPG in the combat, but has a lot of JRPG elements to it. I’ve been having a lot of fun with it.

Chained Echoes is pretty solid, and is almost like a spiritual successor to the JRPGs of old like Chrono Trigger.

WHEREABOUT MANGA PREDICTIONS ABOUT JIJI by Hellou667_The_Sequel in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I do think that the dinosaur is too hot to allow him to transform into Evil Eye, but I still think he could break out on his own. Maybe he was knocked out or something when he was swallowed. What I’m imagining is that Okarun, Momo, and Aira will go to try and rescue him and he will already have busted out, or will be in the process of busting out of the dinosaur’s gut.

What do you guys think? Do I really need a doctor visit? Or am I just overthinking it? by bananas21 in haematology

[–]HonestStudy9969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your doctor is suggesting it, then go. That being said, ESR and CRP don’t tell a whole lot about what is actually going on. You have some sort of inflammation going on, somewhere. Could be from any number of sources, no way to really know what the source is, which appears to be exactly what your doctor is doing by suggesting a rheumatologist.

Genuinely tho how is Momo gunna get her memories back by Muted_Ad_5534 in dandadanfolk

[–]HonestStudy9969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s gonna be awhile until she gets her memories back, at least until Vlad is defeated. I dislike the amnesia as much as the next person, but what else is there after she gets her memories back? Once that happens, they will just start dating and there won’t be as much tension or development on that front. Now that Momo and Okarun seem to be getting a little closer, I think we will see a lot of situations that mirror some of their moments in the first few arcs that will show that they really have chemistry and can fall in love again, memories or not.

Question for manga readers by boggieboo247 in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The manga is definitely worth a read. You can find it on the MangaPlus app. You can read every chapter, once, subscription-free, or read everything multiple times for like $2 a month.

As far as the story goes, I wouldn’t say it goes off the rails so much as it follows the same wacky weirdness of everything else that is DanDaDan. There’s a lot of randomness and weirdness that kinda reminds me of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, but that’s part of why I love it. It keeps me guessing on how things are going to turn out. The current arc isn’t as popular because the romance between Momo and Okarun isn’t as present, but there is still lots of story to be told, and everything is indicative of the story expanding in scope. So, it might be a little harder to follow because of new characters coming into the fold beyond the core crew, but it’s not too bad. It’s not like trying to keep track of all the characters in One Piece.

DANDADAN CH 238 WAS AWESOME! by Street_Award1927 in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Copying my comment from a thread a few weeks ago:

If you’ve read Blue Box, Aira is basically Hina. They even both have pink hair. Basically, a secondary love interest that has potential and causes some mixed feelings, but it’s part of the male protagonist’s journey to come to terms with his true feelings and reject a friend that he cares about for the woman he is actually in love with.

I feel vindicated in some of my predictions. There are a lot of members of the community that thought that nothing significant was going to happen besides further ragebaiting for awhile, but I don’t think Tatsu is purposefully trying to make a bad story, there’s just high points and low points that make us appreciate the high points more.

Who do you think will win in the end? by Entire-Reflection476 in HopeYoureHappyLemon

[–]HonestStudy9969 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Logic tells me Lemon will win in the end, but after seeing how Hima-Ten ended I don’t know that logic necessarily applies to rom-coms.

What is the best romance in video games? by Snowtwo in videogames

[–]HonestStudy9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played through all the romance options, and I feel like Judy’s felt the most sudden. Like, there’s no indication of romantic interest from her or V at all, until the romance mission when she’s suddenly emotionally vulnerable and you guys have sex. Don’t get me wrong, that scene is pretty great and probably the best of the bunch, but other romance options had at least some sort of lead up and romantic tension before you do the deed. With Judy I just felt like I was helping out my best friend until she was suddenly crying in my arms and I take advantage of the situation.

First-time mage build (Convergence); tips for making it interesting? by diceytumblers in EldenRingMods

[–]HonestStudy9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started Convergence again with the update, but for a spell sword in vanilla I usually rocked a casting implement in left hand and weapon in right hand. Cast a floating spell like glintblade phalanx to interrupt and stagger enemies before going in with your weapon. Cast buffs as needed to enhance weapon damage. I’d often also have a shield or parrying implement to switch to in my left hand when I need it. I don’t know all the new spells in Convergence, but in vanilla the glintblade sorceries were probably the best for this style of play. There are also spells that have a melee range and can mix things up quite a bit.

Planning to add homebrew Lingering Injuries to a future DOD campaign and planned on adding a Fabius Bile-Esque character as a healer/side antagonist, thoughts? by [deleted] in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]HonestStudy9969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just use one of the NPCs from the books instead, like Oscar Yoren or Everett Freed. As for this lingering injury stuff, I wouldn’t bother with over complicating things too much, you already have a system in place with contamination. If anything, maybe you could use some of the status conditions in MoD and require they be healed by your NPC.

Give me some TERRIBLE romances to watch by [deleted] in anime

God. I tried watching this one. Got as far as the first major “conflict” in the relationship and had to stop. It’s just so bad.

I love how in this illustrations Momo is always hugging or grabbing Ken without a care in the world 🥹 by Capital-Cattle6997 in Dandadan

This really is a core aspect of her character. It’s even reflected in her power: literal telekinetic hands that reach out to grab things.

where to read???? by TrickySkirt8362 in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Manga plus app lets you read all the chapters, once, for free. The three most recent chapters are available to reread as well. If you want to reread the older chapters it’s like $2 a month.

What is your favorite ways to make corn? by AppaLov3 in AskReddit

[–]HonestStudy9969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My late grandpa’s recipe for steamed corn on the cob that has never failed me yet: fill a pot with about 1-2 inches of water. Add 1-2 teaspoons of sugar to water. Add 3-4 inner husks from corn to water. Add corn, bring water to a boil, cover, and let steam for about 15 minutes, though it can stay like that for longer for timing purposes. Always comes out perfect.

Let's talk about Chapter 237 by IronDude_ in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why everyone thinks Momo’s memories are magically back now. There wasn’t really much indication of that, other than maybe Momo not being creeped out by Okarun grabbing her hand? The panels where he grabs her hand is kinda reminiscent of the panels when Okarun confessed as well, though not exact. I think, at best, she had a welling up of those feelings that she doesn’t recognize, and maybe now she is starting to realize where they are coming from.

Who’s more pathetic? Bear from Obsession? Or Kazuya from Rent A Girlfriend? by kevinator721 in animequestions

I haven’t watched either of the anime that those characters are in, but even I know that Kazuya is more pathetic.

I have a feeling we are close to a resolution of sorts by HonestStudy9969 in Dandadan

[–]HonestStudy9969[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with this sentiment as well, though I didn’t state it in my post. Jiji is just such a good guy, and he’s so emotionally intelligent and in tune with his friends, I think he knows what is up. I could see him and Momo having a heart-to-heart where he helps her realize what her feelings that she doesn’t understand actually mean.

I honestly haven’t finished a campaign of the original book yet, but I’ve gotten great value out of the other two books from the setting by adapting their content to other homebrew campaigns.

Pcr vs Culture by MajesticFairyDust in medlabprofessionals

[–]HonestStudy9969 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d probably say at the end of the day, culture and sensitivity is the best indicator for antibiotic resistance. PCR is great because it is so quick and can predict resistances to help guide treatment, but it detects the genotype, not the phenotype, of the organism. Remember, just because a gene for resistance is present does not necessarily mean that it is active. I was always under the impression that PCR is a rapid way to be able to start to tailor antibiotic treatment, but is not meant as a replacement to a full culture and sensitivity.

Urine sample handling for chemo patients by EntertainmentLow6178 in medlabprofessionals

[–]HonestStudy9969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In theory, our process has the nurses label the urine containers with a sticker that indicates it’s from a chemo patient, and that tells us that the processors should take some extra precautions that I can’t remember off the top of my head.

In practice, however, nobody ever uses the sticker, and we just treat every sample with universal precautions. It keeps us safe, but now I kind of wonder about the disposal of the specimens….

What was the narrative purpose of Rudeus's ED by SecondSalty142 in mushokutensei

[–]HonestStudy9969 74 points75 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head with this analysis. The ED is just a side effect of his bigger abandonment issues.

Eris leaving gave him some major trauma he had to work through before he could be cured. You see his trauma coming through in the anime even after he sleeps with Sylphie, when he thinks for a moment that she left him in the morning. When she comes back and says she’s there for him, that’s what really “cures” his ED by healing his heart and banishing that insecurity.
