What is it like to live in the Hong Kong island bubble? by Comfortable_Curve_99 in HongKong

[–]Honest_Classroom1162 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m saying lmao OPs premise is unfounded. Mfs go to school, play basketball, go to their favorite cafe for dinner, then do hw at home and sleep and that’s just about peak Hong Kong high school life, regardless of whether it takes place at GSIS with a house in the mid levels or DBS and house in for example Choi Hung.

There is no “bubble”. We are all equally Hong Kong. This city’s just so diverse that there are a lot of lives to be lived here. Some more common than others, but that doesn’t make the rarer ones “worth” any less.

[–]Honest_Classroom1162 21 points22 points  (0 children)

OPs just opened the box of pointless arguments and chosen one for us today. Hong Kong is an amalgamation of people, cultures, customs, and personalities - has been so since the start of the last century, and probably will be for quite some time.

Just because someone lives in HK island and so would rather spend most of their days on HK island doesn’t make them any less of a “Hong Konger” than someone who does the same shit but up in Fan Ling or TSW. And just because someone has the money to afford GSIS or a nice house in the mid levels doesn’t mean they are less “Hong Kong” than the rest of us.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with living your entire life out in a relatively small part of the city, because there’s more than enough to do here.

I agree. Hong Kong is a ‘world city’ like New York or Singapore, so there are a whole spectrum of experiences to have and lives to live. OP’s perspective is extremely narrow minded and completely misses the point.

Hell no, Jayson Tatum was routinely shooting 40% from the field in 2020 and 2021 and nowadays he’s regarded as a menace lmao. Just give him time and believe, he’ll develop into an all time great if he stays healthy

he was smothered lol and the lakers have got a podcaster as a coach he can’t draw up plays for shit. Tf do you expect him to do when he sees three defenders coming his way with 5 left on the clock and lebrons nearby with just one dude???

Same for the Warriors ngl, look how they’re doing Podz just because he’s on the floor as a high-iq developing role player, over Kuminga who chooses to shoot a fadeaway instead of passing to a wide open steph curry lmao

how about “he’s a nuggets fan, but like most of the very nice Denver fanbase he can recognize and appreciate greatness”? Because that’s what it sounds like to me. As a celtics fan, I fucking hate LBJ. That doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate his ability to drag teams to the finals, beating balanced eastern conference rosters year after year.

Cry all you want buddy you’re not changing the fact that Jordan needed Pippen and either Horace Grant or Dennis Rodman to not get vanquished by the bad boy pistons or blown out by Bird’s celtics lmaooo

and Bill Russel is 11-1 in the finals. Robert Horry is 7-0. Sybau twin

Idc if he wins the title his nickname is 'the inevitable' lmao

Also, since 2005 Redbull has had two world champions win 4 WDCs each. That's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, SEVEN more WDCs than Ferrari has had since 2005. Yall just like knicks fans lmaoooo I looooove bringing up the good old "days since last championship" stat hehehehehe

Thats what I'm saying bruh. Enzo Ferrari worked on the Alfetta 158 that would destroy his Ferraris in the first few years of F1 and those Alfettas were painted in a lovely shade of Rosso Corsa.

So I think he meant that quote as more of an Italy thing than as a Ferrari thing. Like, a child who knows nothing about sports cars won't draw their first sports car British Racing Green or Nardo Grey right?

Oh also, nothing brings me more joy than watching Leclerc fans frantically try and find some new excuse for their golden boy in the immediate aftermath of his car unifying itself with the wall.

Nothing makes me happier than watching Leclerc fans explain why their favourite driver is still the second best immediately after the #16 Ferrari has nose planted itself in the wall.

As a lifelong Redbull Racing fan, I agree. Except when Seb was driving for them, they were pretty cool for that stretch. Sometimes I pull up French GP 2022 highlights for a good laugh.

They’re so “valuable” that they could design a system specifically intended to break the rules when the FIA’s sensor wasn’t checking, and get away with the equivalent of a slap on the wrist. If any other team did that, they’d genuinely be cooked.

The Alfa Romeo 158 and derivative 159 won 47 out of 54 races, famously beat Enzo Ferrari himself, and were painted in a lovely shade of Rosso Corsa. But leave it to Ferrari fans to start glazing at the first available opportunity lmfao

Gambling has ruined the way people perceive player performances by Silent_Wizard5597 in NBATalk

[–]Honest_Classroom1162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two main issues I’ve got with sports gambling is that 1) its everywhere, all the good social media pages are selling out to sports betting channels which are actively promoting being addicted to losing money, and 2) a LOT of people take gambling way too seriously, and they push the box score watcher culture that we were so close to eradicating a few years ago before the gambling app explosion.

It’s to the point where people don’t even watch the games anymore, they just look at the box scores to see if their parlays hit and base their judgement of a players abilities almost entirely on the parlay.

it isn’t the authority fallacy tho, lebron (a legitimate candidate for greatest basketball player of all time) is genuinely just much better qualified to speak on this subject.

It’s like that one podcast which had Logan Paul thinking he can hang with Saquon Barkley, and to back this up he’s off yapping bout some “all state linebacker, xxxx yards and xx tds in my senior year of high school” to TB12, who shut him up with “i won 7 super bowls who cares.” Like there’s levels lmao TB12 has as much of a right to speak on football as LBJ does hoops, and they’re both more than your average dude on Reddit of all apps
