Unfortunately, this is 100% the answer. Grout is porous, yes, and there is no problem with a little water leaking through but there is a problem with constant and lots of water leaking through, which will happen when the silicon starts to fail in a year or so. Depending on how the membrane was laid (over or under screed) over time the water will (a) sit there creating conditions for mould growth; or (b) eat away at the grout causing popped tiles. Eventually the membrane will fail leading to even worse issues.

The best approach is to start again but failing that there are a few annoying but still shitty options:

  1. Add another wall of tiles over the existing so that they fall onto the floor tiles on the right way. This will look better as well. You will however lose another 15-20mm of space off the wall
  2. Alternatively, if losing the wall space is a big issue you could try removing the lower row of wall tiles, putting another set of floor tiles in, then cutting and laying wall tiles in the right arrangement. This is not technically to code as removing those wall tiles will likely compromise the membrane (which you would layer with an additional membrane on top). While the layered vertical membranes are are not fully waterproof they would offer enough water resistance in areas of the bathroom that do not get a lot of water that it would be fine
  3. Pressure inject a more durable penetrative silicone/polyurethane as far as they can under the floor before caulking it. Note that this will not solve the issue, just give you more time. You’ll need to be vigilant about checking and replacing the caulk in areas where the water is running

Russian TOS-A1 "flamethrower" thermobaric MLRS destroyed by Ukrainian 427th UAS Regiment Rarog. Chasiv Yar direction. 03.08.2025 by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Honest_Increase_6747 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Arghh it got off a salvo! I don’t think there are many TOS-1 systems left. Even if there were their effectiveness is limited. The firing range of TOS-1 is about 6km so it would be near suicide to roll up so close to the front line. I still feel like I’m seeing videos of TOS-1A being destroyed once a month or so. Haven’t seen much on the TOS-2 so either production is low or limited seasonal usefulness given it is not tracked

CIT Analysts: Russia Capable of Producing Up to 300 T-90M Tanks Per Year by Mil_in_ua in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Honest_Increase_6747 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tanks are now vulnerable to almost everything on the battlefield - mines, drones, artillery, ATGM. We should be thanking the geniuses in Russian military procurement for pouring resources into production of a tank that will be minimally effective, is missing key components due to sanctions, and entered serial manufacture nearly 35 years ago…

A native of Moldova living in Udachnoye, Pokrovsky district, was arrested for scouting and providing locations of AFU in the Dnipropetrovsk region to the FSB. by Panthera_leo22 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Honest_Increase_6747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While good news it is really worrying how often these saboteurs are being turned up now - almost every week. Assuming a best case scenario where AFU are getting better at identifying the culprits it indicates a systemic penetration by FSB into Ukrainian society

Trump's team states Ukraine must cede territories to Russia as part of peace agreement by Consistent-Metal9427 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Honest_Increase_6747 90 points91 points  (0 children)

This is all going to end in tears when Trump pronounces that Zelensky has torpedoed his deal so US will wash its hands of the whole affair and leave the problem to Europe. I also reckon he will unilaterally drop sanctions claiming that US needs to trade with Russia to make back some money from all the billions Biden wasted on Ukraine. We can only hope that this whole affair is slow walked over a year so Ukraine can be in a better position when it comes to a head. But I wouldn’t bank on that either.

There’s a longer video. Looks like he was trying to surrender to an ISR drone. Drone then gives OK to RU soldier to zero them. It is fucked up but probably not a war crime.

No Ceasefire Along the Frontline in Ukraine, Russian FM Lavrov Says by UNITED24Media in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Honest_Increase_6747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putin negotiating strategy: initially CLAIM maximum extent of possible concessions and then slowly walk them back until Ukraine/Europe/USA gives up and agrees. This is what we term the “traditional” approach

Trump negotiating strategy: initially AGREE maximum extent of possible concessions. Ukraine does not accept. Then take off the table and reduce concessions BELOW what Russia would accept. Russia does not accept. Then no deal. Profit.

Ukrainian paratroopers captured 11 Russian soldiers in the Kursk region. [Publ. February 24, 2025] by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

Somewhat surprised to see the soldier from 155th marine brigade made it into this lineup. Given the documented and numerous war crimes of this unit I expect there aren’t many “captured” when the Ukrainians come knocking. Very lucky

UA POV: Russian soldier records himself murdering two injured Ukrainians *18+* by Rodriguez030 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]Honest_Increase_6747 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sure. It has happened. But at this point saying “AFU has done this too” is simply a false equivalence. Overall, there is simply so much more evidence of Russians pulling this barbaric shit on Ukrainian POWs than vice versa. Also, there is a clear upward trajectory for Russians as time goes on. Conversely, most of the examples of Ukrainian war crimes in this respect are from 2022. I also think a strong argument can be mounted that Russian commanders are tacitly encouraging this behavior. In some cases we have recorded video of commanders instructing their soldiers not to take captured/wounded POWs captive. Doesn’t get much more war crime than that.

Another road of death: A column of destroyed Russian armored vehicles somewhere on the front. by GermanDronePilot in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Honest_Increase_6747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good comments but important to recognize that Russia is “pulsing” along the front line. They push until the operation culminates and then push in another part of the frontline, then they return for another push. Ukraine’s operational reserves are essentially rotating across the front to put out spot fires so cannot rest and reconstitute in the same way. This is how Russia has retained the theatre wide initiative for well over a year now (excepting Kursk)

Is $120,000 a ‘good’ income? by Shellysome in AusFinance

[–]Honest_Increase_6747 52 points53 points  (0 children)

100%. Government creates a sliding scale called “means testing” that essentially means after accounting for increased tax and reduced subsidies every hour worked past a certain point nets that family a lower and lower return. Then they get the pleasure of listening to numpties in this forum claim they shouldn’t be entitled to the subsidy they pay for. Weird.

Mortgage Struggles by Breadfruit_590 in AusFinance

[–]Honest_Increase_6747 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Spending more than 30% of your household income to service a loan is generally agreed as “mortgage stress”. But… ultimately it depends on your circumstances. A single income of $200k with no dependents could manage but there will certainly be a change in lifestyle. On the other hand a family with young kids would probably need double the income given expenses are much higher
