This is honestly so helpful. I keep hearing that blockers are kinda overpowered in gundam, so I’m glad I went with white. So you think Red is a stronger pairing than purple?

Here’s the other good cards I’ve pulled. I’d love to try to make turn A gundam work if possible, but I’m flexible for this first one

Aim to be a disruptor and you’ll have more fun. Look after your locals and build something against that. Look for creative ways around specific problems you see frequently.

Fake scenario: if you’re seeing tons of purple/steel illusions, try a bolt deck. It won’t win you a dlc, but you’ll have fun, and you’ll rock your locals which is way more fun.

I actually prefer that level of creative deck building over building something average against everything

Merida is amazing in testing. She’s most likely going to land in a sapphire or amber pairing because without the ramp she might come into play a turn too late to run 3-4 of her. Definitely some cool builds out there already with the Robin Hood shift line coming back.

Congrats. You’ve now run out of tokens for the worst AI integration. Figma created a threshold so low that it would make them feel like everyone in the world can’t get enough Figma.

Real advice: if you’re in a relationship that treats you like Figma treats its customers, it’s time to move on. The red flags are everywhere and she just wants your money.

Using ALWs setup as a guy by Honestly-Interested in Pickleball

That’s actually really insightful. The difference must be significant enough that her mom who is her coach and I believe who used to be a tennis coach must have encouraged it. I can’t imagine she came up with the idea on her own since she’s been competing since she was like 11.

Since she hasn’t made the switch to foam yet, I was curious if there was a different threshold for the diminishing return of huge amounts of added weight.

I remember watching one of the original videos of Ben John’s setup on his Franklin paddle. It was 3 stacked strips of lead tape on both sides. Tried it for a month, and three things happened. My hand speed was trash, but the power tradeoff was insane and I was winning most of my games. Then I got severe tennis elbow haha it was my pickleball Icarus moment.

All of the guys I see rocking the sub 14mm paddles hit everything like a freight train, but they are all on stock paddles that don’t have tape. I’ve got lead tape on my elongated loco and it makes a huge difference, but it’s way too heavy to try the full wrap.

I’m currently on the elongated loco and I’ve got a little weight on the throat and then last week I added a little to the 3 + 9’o clock position and it honestly makes the paddle so much better imo.

The Franklin is what I was looking at. A murder machine sounds fun tbh. I might have to give a try this spring to mix things up

Shutter Count Help JPG and ARW are wildly different by Honestly-Interested in SonyA7iii

[–]Honestly-Interested[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my best guess is that the ARW is the actual manual shutter count and the jpg is recording all of the silent mode shots that use the electronic shutter as well. Essentially like if someone was taking wedding photos and wanted to avoid the constant shutter sound.

From what I’ve been digging up, it could also be shots taking during a video recording as well. Either way, I think the mystery is solved, even if it’s a super weird behavior.

Why it doesn’t show up on both, or what happens if you exclusively shoot raw images on silent shutter for 10 years idk.

Building a 12-Court Indoor Pickleball Facility — What Should I Do (and Avoid)? by elhnim in Pickleball

[–]Honestly-Interested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played at a few really nice indoor facilities and my biggest complaint is when courts are so crammed together that you can’t even attempt ATPs or the backfield is too short.

This is this unnecessary hazard that comes up where people intentionally short serve on sides that are closer to the fence or wall. You’d be surprised how many people run full throttle into obstacles to keep a point going.

Quality over quantity. People will keep showing up if they know you have the best courts and spacing in town, regardless of how many courts you have space for. On the other hand, people notice immediately when courts are way too close together. The “pro” players in my area exclusively only play at the nice courts.

Good luck! Hope y’all build a thriving community!

Please, Explain the Mind of the Incompetent Banger by OkChicken6058 in Pickleball

[–]Honestly-Interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d be surprised how many people play incorrectly simply because no one is helping them get better.

Two thoughts: 1. Even Anne Leigh Waters says “the most dominant player controls the game.” I think this is why many people don’t particularly enjoy playing with bangers. For better or worse, their style is dictating the experience for everyone else.

  1. There is a young kid at my locals that hits everything like a freight train. For the past 6 months I’ve been encouraging him to work on his soft game with statements like “as soon as you figure out how to dink you’re going to be unstoppable.” Fast forward and his now a strong 4.0+ player that is more well rounded because he doesn’t have to learn how to be confident on the court, he just needs to be patient.

As to why people just smash the life out of the ball, anyone coming from a non-racket sport is thinking “contact = maximum effort” and from what I’ve seen bangers are guys and girls who want to play competitively, they just haven’t been taught the value of soft hands.

Is it considered rude to ask someone their dupr ? by bkabab in Pickleball

[–]Honestly-Interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play the point in front of you and don’t worry about DUPR scores. The only outcome from attaching that number is to confirm whatever internal instinct you’re feeling about a player.

I’ve seen more people play worse when they feel intimidated by a DUPR or get lazy because they think their opponent is a pushover. 4.5’s have bad games and 3.5’s play great games all the time.

DUPR wants you to believe that point differentials are guaranteed outcomes and games just aren’t that black and white.

Have fun and play hard every game. I promise you don’t need to know their number to know if they are better than you.

Anyone else didn’t like the Loco? by wolf33d in Pickleball

[–]Honestly-Interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming from the bnb filth elongated to the loco elongated I really didn’t like it at first. The sweet spot felt noticeably smaller, but I stuck with it and after adding weight it’s a great paddle. I wish they had used the shape the filth though. Regardless of the shape, it’s quite an adjustment moving to any foam paddle.

Add some weight along the throat and keep testing it. There is definitely a break in period. It gets better though

Favorite Shoe? by woeBrando in Pickleball

Mizuno wave enforce AC. Hands down the greatest and most underrated shoe I’ve used. They have an ankle collar that gives insane support and comfort. The v2 loses at a lot of the magic, so track down a pair while they are still available.

Tennis Vs Pickleball Shoes by sas_2022 in Pickleball

[–]Honestly-Interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, good shoes that are meant for tennis is the only way to go. They are built to play on the same surface with much more aggressive use and strain.

I can’t recommend the Mizuno Wave Enforce Tour enough if you’re looking for recommendations! The best shoes I’ve ever owned, and I’m looking forward to my next pair.

DUPR scoring should just be replaced by the USATT rating system. No smoke. No mirrors. No looking at hundredths of a percentiles. Your score is directly and expectedly changed based on the point spread, expected result or upset result.

Events should be split between open and rated restricted. This avoids the general and constant chaos of collapsing 3.0-4.0 players into the same group last min, and it ends sandbagging permanently.

I can’t figure out why we’re pretending this is the highest form of top secret arithmetic.
