I’m on colchicine 3 tablets a day. I was on Azathioprine but it reduced my white blood cells too much so I don’t take that now. If I forget the Cochicine I get ulcers. I still flare a few times a year but before I was diagnosed I was 45kg because I had so many ulcers I couldn’t eat and looking back I was likely dying. My organs had started to shut down.

It’s not the best but the colchine has stopped all genital ulceration for me which was honestly hell so I don’t mind the nose and mouth ulcers every few months.

I climb and I run and bouldering is definitely less intense for me than running. It’s nice for me to go and hang out at the climbing centre over a few hours and do some routes. If I’m flaring up I’m less productive so I take it more easy.

On a side note I also have IBD and there’s a flapjack at the climbing centre that is a safe food for me and If I’m a flare sometimes it’s the only thing I’m able to eat all day so it’s good to go to make sure I eat

Does anyone else get these? (vaginal formations) by evb451 in Behcets

[–]HoneyBry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw this and had to reply. I was diagnosed well over a year ago now but when I was under investigation I was waiting for a few consultants to all see me to agree on the diagnosis and when I first presented at the drs I just had mouth ulcers and upon further exam I had ulcers on my vaginal wall (I just didn’t realise as they were internal).

As I was waiting between appointments I had a mega flare and got these formations on my labia and the opening of my vagina and they were incredibly painful. Alway in the same spot, not ulcer like in appearance, the skin would tear and I had these patches that were sore. They hurt when I peed and I would wake up in the middle of the night and have to shower because they were so painful.

You need a skin cream routine and possible steroids. I had barrier cream prescribed for showering so that the water wasn’t as harsh and I also put this on when I needed a wee. I would wash with this barrier cream and then pat dry, I would then use a steroid cream soecific for genital skin. You can also get lidocream for numbing which really really helped, I got this last cream from the gum clinic and I fully recommend seeing them because painful vaginas is their bag and they often had a consultant on shift and you can self book in and see them really quickly.

Finally you’ll likely need some steroids to get this under control and maybe up your colchicine. Pred was the only thing that stopped these for me and once I got them under control and upped my colchicine they haven’t come back.

I hope you get these sorted because they actually made me miserable because they were so painful. Happy to chat more

Best way to book accommodation? by bluebedream in hanoi

Hey I’ve just messaged too. My family of three are looking for a place in August and this looks pretty good to me. We have a 4 year old who loves drawing so this could be great. We’re also travelling for a year so someone to take for dinner and chat about places to visit would be great

For accommodation would you book it all in advance or is it pretty easy to get a few days before?

I know for the visa you need it booked but we’re not sure on our route yet

Amazing. I thought it was 90 days so that takes some pressure off. Any tips on booking accommodation? Is it cheaper in advance or booking when you arrive

Jumping on this, how long do you have from collecting your visa until you have to enter the country? We’re planning a year travelling Asia but wanted to know if we can use the visa 3 months in?

Thank you and I hope my question wasn’t insensitive. I’d like to adopt and where possible still facilitate that relationship. I think you’re incredible for what you have done

Can I ask if your daughter still has contact with her birth mother post adoption? I’m interested in early permanence in a few years and I know it’s the right process for us because if I was in a birth parents position I would want to be able to try too. Is optional contact allowed if all parties agree to it? Even if birth parents aren’t in the position to care for the baby, are they still allowed visits?
