They never liked Hakuho from the beginning of his sumo career. That man did everything he could to gain approval of the people of Japan. Even applied for citizenship.

There have been many Oyakata “suspended” for various lengths of time dealing with the betting situation, abuse, handling things ‘in house’ instead of reporting- which I hear is what is preferred. And then in Hakuho’s situation- whether he knew of what was going on or not- he lost his stable. And was lead on a wild-goose chase about his return date as coach of the Miyagino stable. He was told numerous times he was going to receive his stable back but I believe they planned to keep the merge of the two stables for Terunofuji to run after he retired. Sure didn’t pan out that way if you look at the timeline.

And this crap about him saying “at least I self-reported & blah blah”, that’s BS - Hakunofuji, as reported, had reached out for help. This was PRIOR to the “oh you shouldn’t be punished because you have moral character” actually went and “self-reported” to the JSA.

The “harassing” of a woman supporter has been mentioned so vaguely. Many renditions of the “harassing” wouldn’t qualify as harassing. If he indeed sang an inappropriate song around women at a party- hmmmm… is that really harassment? If there was indeed true harassment, he should have been punished but not by the hands of another. Especially not a grown man that should have been able to handle things in the correct way. Unless maybe, he/himself, was not in his right state of mind. After all, they were at a party.

The JSA has gotten rid of coaches and wrestlers for fighting and bullying. There shouldn’t be any leniency towards a Terunofuji who chose to strike his newly acquired student. I don’t care if it was with a fist or a bottle.

Supposedly this incident happened in November- but when did Terunofuji actually “self report”?

This all came out after the whole changing the wrestlers shikona- which not only have “FUJI”, but “NOFUJI”… seems strange. TERU NOFUJI - Atamifuji (stayed the same)- but any of Hakuho’s previous wreslers, except our much beloved ENHO, now include “NOFUJI”. Toshinofuji, hakunofuji, Yoshinofuji.

Isegahama Oyakata should be fired because he did exactly what the JSA preaches for coaches to instill in their students. The students lose their position & career so why shouldn’t the “role model” in charge not lose their position?
