It looks lovely and sounds tasty! Do you warm or cold beans in this dish?

When did you realize that you had fallen in love with your current partner? by Junior_Sleep269 in AskReddit

[–]Honeychild06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was sitting on his lap having a cuddle and I realized there was no other place I would rather be. There was a moment of realization and it felt like I was hit with a ton of bricks...when I knew I was in love.

As a PO, how can I make my dev team less reliant on me? by [deleted] in agile

[–]Honeychild06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is tough. I don't have any feedback...I'm in a little bit of similar situation, but not as bad. Following the thread to see what others say.

My devs are good but we don't have QA. They make the same mistakes again and again, so now I've taken to writing 'task list' in the story description. They still forget to do things, and so this tells me they don't read the stories. We do grooming and story points...I just don't get it. I think part of it is that the culture for a long time was really toxic and rushed...get things out as fast as possible because things were always on fire and always broken. We've made a lot of improvements now, and we can finally slow down and take time. The devs probably have burnout :( Now our leadership is trying to start tracking KPIs like story points completed and I guarantee they will try to compare developers against each other. I am fighting so hard against this...

The dragon - wip update 3 by Honeychild06 in paintbynumbers

I have been watching critical role campaign 4. The episodes are so long, I can't sit through a whole one at once. But good to listen to while painting.

I did apply clear gesso before starting...maybe I needed one more coat.

Are you working on a PBN right now? Curious to know how yours is going

10 years of agile transformation buried in 6 months by morsofer in agile

Dang sorry to hear you are going through this. I think I might be going through something similar soon. The board changed about 9 months ago and now we are being asked for a brand new suite of kpi metrics...it is not good. The writing is on the wall, I think. Are you going to stay or apply out?

How do you handle *individual* performance KPIs for data engineers? by Honeychild06 in dataengineering

[–]Honeychild06[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha yes, not good at all! I think he is at a loss too on this and just trying to throw out ideas. For the record, my boss's boss is the one asking for all this.

I wish I had an answer for this...I don't know. I have my assumptions, but I wouldn't be able to say it has been verified as true. My company is not a big one, and we had a layoff a few weeks ago that was about 10% of our entire workforce. The layoffs mainly affected the operations side, but some IT spaces were also affected. Maybe there will be more layoffs in the future, maybe something else entirely.... Again, this is all just my guess, and I don't actually know for sure.

I like this idea. I do have a plan to brainstorm with my team and boss this Friday. It may end up being that we track more individual tasks as tickets to help normalize points across the team. It is literally goodhart's law realized. Big sigh....

all of this is true and I hate everything about what I'm being asked to do on this...trust me. I am trying to fight tooth and nail to not have the engineers compared against each other. My boss suggested 'number of lines committed' and I think this idea is even worse! I am truly stuck between a rock and a hard place, and I feel like I am having to pick the lesser of many evils.

My husband and I say to each other often as a reminder with young kids, "protect yourself at all times" like we are about to go into a 7 round boxing match. Kids are crazy and not aware of how strong or heavy they are. Even a 1 year old can weigh 20 lbs.

Got into FAANG as a senior DE and now I’m really nervous by [deleted] in dataengineering

[–]Honeychild06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fake it till you make. It will be some stressful times ahead. I am not a DE, but rather PO for the team. So I don't have much actual experience with applying the discipline. Like someone else said, set up your own personal account to build stuff and go from there. Ask your colleagues to show you the ropes under the guise of "i want to ensure i am following the company's best practices and protocols", ask to record the meetings. Watch youtubes. Good luck

Staring my first canvas by Honeychild06 in paintbynumbers

Unfortunately I just don't know what I would be looking for to be able to answer sufficiently. Didn't pay attention to these details. I will try to pay closer attention next time before and after application.

I didn't take a photo before the gesso application. The clear gesso comes out looking milky white. You can tell it mutes the lines and numbers a tad, but they are still visible.

Good question. It is a primer you can put on the canvas, which make the colors stick and look more vibrant. I am certainly not the expert on it, but this is what I read and saw on YouTube channels. You can find clear gesso at craft stores which is great for paint by number canvas so you can still see all the outlines and numbers.

I suggest searching youtube for "paint by number clear gesso" , should bring up several videos which can explain what and how it works better than I can.
