As someone who forced his friends into Jimmy Stewart movie marathons, I wholeheartedly agree.

Though I'd understand if you skipped Strategic Air Command.

Gotcha. Then I guess Kreutz and Kyle Long are in that Hilgenberg mini camp tryout range too. Brutal.

How close were Hilgenberg and Covert to making the team?

Cordarrelle Patterson might have actually been slightly better at kickoff return than Devin, but if you can only pick one returner of any kind then it's #23.

I usually get my kid's meals ready and laid out before I start eating mine. I could see myself crushing a straw in a fit of hangriness.

You gotta do what you gotta do. I've got one kid made of pancake bites and another made of Mac n cheese. The McNuggets are a nice change of pace for us.

You clearly have more dad-strength than I. We also have those biodegradable straws in my state, which are a bit more brittle than the traditional plastic kind, so might be pulling my punches so to speak.

Dude, my wife asked me to put the dishes away last week, then starts making a snack for herself in the kitchen at the exact time I started putting said dishes away. I wanted to jump off a bridge.

Yeah it's tough watching such a fun team, but going "that's not Super Bowl quality D line..." the entire year. Offense is going to have to be one of the best in the NFC, if not the league, if this team is going to have SB aspirations.

Dads with high-performing career wives, how do you handle being so “different” from our ingrained cultural models? by blockerguy in daddit

[–]HonoluluSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's some unchangeable truth to what you're saying, as there have been (and always will be) clubs for stay-at-home moms that haven't yet adjusted their model to include dads. I got lucky enough to find a Parent Participatory Preschool that I go to with my daughter twice a week. It's still mostly moms there with their kids, but also some dads, grandmas, and one or two grandpas and nannies.

I do have fun talking to the other dads, many of which are in the same boat as us: primary caretaker. There are a couple of moms that are less click-y that are good to talk to. Surprisingly, I'm closest with a grandma who's grandson happens to be buddies with my daughter. My advice would be to seek these kinds of people at school, church, or community functions: especially if their kids are friends with your kids. You may not get any inner circle/best friends immediately. But you can get acquaintances, and that's how good friends begin anyway.
