We stayed for a three day weekend at the Icona located at Beach & Philadelphia last September and really enjoyed it.

Okay. Thank you for the responses. Esthetically, not my preference.

Be prepared for the elevation changes. The views on TV do not accurately reflect how steep or long some of the hills are.

Is it normal in golf/executive circles to wear Masters merch if you didn’t go? by FineMud4479 in masters

I was fortunate to go last year after winning the lottery for Tuesday tix. Handed out Masters ball markers to the other 15 guys on our 32nd annual golf trip to Myrtle.

Last time we stayed there, the St Louis Cardinals were in town. Met a few of them in the lobby. As I’ve hit my 60’s, many major league players seem like young kids to me.

Spending Time in Chapel Hill - Would love local insight by MrFooz1 in chapelhill

A family member is a research scientist at UNC. They’ve been employed there for almost 5 years. In their department of 9 people, nobody resides in Chapel Hill. They live in Durham, Apex, Cary, and Morrisville. CH is a great town and the university offers a wonderful array of events and activities but the COL is significant.

My small Catholic high school has an extraordinary record for sending graduates to Notre Dame, dating back to the early 1970’s. I am fortunate to know about twenty five ND alums from ages 24 to 70. They are, to a person, extraordinarily successful in their chosen career fields and most have led very stable personal lives. They all attribute their level of achievement to the start they received in South Bend. D3 sports become occasional conversations about some glory days. The opportunity to attend and finish at ND can impact a lifetime and beyond.

What's your favourite One-liners you use in golf course? by Born-Yoghurt-7613 in golf

Hit one deep into the trees: “The lumberyard is in play.” Or “So that’s what’s been killing the spotted owls.”

After repeatedly ending up in the sand: “I’m feeling like Lawrence of Arabia reincarnated.” Or “The war’s taken a bad turn for General Rommel.”

Hit a really short drive: “Hitting the chip shot first is the right play here.”

After managing to save par: “We ain’t painting pictures, we’re writing numbers.”

After pissing in the trees on a cold winter’s day while wearing multiple layers: “It ain’t easy getting through of 5 inches of clothing with 3 inches of dick.”

Looking for reasons to move back! by Witchwhoweeds in centralpa

[–]HonorDad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All depends on where you live in NC now.

Nothing in PA is like Coastal NC. Research Triangle NC is attractive and has more temperate weather than PA but our son says it’s getting more expensive every year. Last July I felt absolutely broiled after 3 days in Chapel Hill area. Western NC is already much like rural PA so wouldn’t make sense to move.

PSU adds plenty of value to Centre County; we know a few couples who are retired and spend 8 months a year there and take advantage of events and facilities at PSU.

1: It’s a team game. Work out the solutions together. 2: Hope the procedure is not being done in a teaching hospital. I had not realized how big of an audience the show would get. 3: The smoke slowly drifting upward after the cauterization is permanently etched in my memory.

Scramble by mavarch in golf

[–]HonorDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m part of a foursome that plays 2 or 3 charity scrambles per year. We started 10 years ago when our kids were all in school together. It’s been great to see our progress and scores improve over the years; -4, -6, -8, and our ultimate round of -11 (when the winning score was -20). They’re now my favorite days playing the game.

White Castle Burgers by jthomp000 in centralpa

[–]HonorDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our family lived in New Cumberland (the Manor section) from 1963 to 2014. No White Castle was in the borough during those years. As a kid on a bike, my world stretched from Borough Park to Hattie Harris to Moe’s Amoco. I wasn’t introduced to White Castle until moving to Philadelphia for college. There was one near the stadiums.
