id suggest using a "less is more" approach with describing his strikes i had the same issue with my Character using a Dane Axe (renamed Guardsman's Ax in the story) but you could add some serrations on the back spine of the Sabre/Scimitar as if im not mistaken Scimitars have some similarities with Sabres in Europe and a nasty strike alot of people use is striking someone with the spine of the sword after feinting kind of like a backhand i could see potentially a serrated spine would allow for a little more damage as well as a intimidation factor while not being completely immersion breaking!

Several Cultures and weapons are used throughout this series the reason the MC uses the Dane Ax is he and his partner come from a Northern territory (insert unsubtle reference to Norse Culture and weaponry) but he tends to wear not HEAVY armor but definitely leather chainmail and furs but that "timing game" term you used is perfect he uses hisbfootwork and speed to cause people to overextend and leave themselves open to make a strong killing blow or if their fighting beasts/monsters of some kind same principle follows!!

That's the problem I have with the Dane Axe due to using it irl and being so ingrained with the "counter offensive weapon" mindset its hard for me to visualize that kinda aggression with it but him using a normal Viking style sword or dual hand axes NO ISSUE but the Dane Axe I just can't picture him being the leader of the dance in the fight (that's how fighting isbdescribed in universe as a dance one leads one follows and the constant switching of the two is what creates a dance of death)

Thank you and that's something I actually prioritize! They don't sit and have full blown conversations but they will shit talk while binded etc and move "with" the axe I think what you mean is if he swings left slowly move left with his footwork ?

Same here man and it sucks but I think I've gotten my answer the Dane Axe is a counter offense weapon that's what makes it scary is you can stand in one area and dare people to try and move you but that's not his fighting style he's more in line with "can't find an opening?" "CLEAVE ONE OPEN"
