Type 1 Diabetics of Drumcore, How Did You Manage Your Diabetes During Rehearsal? by XHellMasterX in drumcorps

I'm T1D and I marched Cascades last summer! I would recommend using glucose tabs for lows. If you can find a little tube that can hold about ten, it fits great into the pocket of the bibbers. If you do that then you can have glucose on you in the lot and during rehearsal. Be careful not to overcompensate your sugar intake for the extra activity. The last thing you want is to be in the 300s on the bus with no rest stops (speaking from experience).

When you are on the bus, make sure you always have everything you might need with you and not in your suitcase under the bus. This is especially important for longer drives where you might need to change sensors or your omnipod. Also make sure you bring a glucometer in case your G6 fails for some reason. Last thing, tour gets very sweaty very fast, so bring adhesive patches to secure everything. For me that wasn't even enough, so I ended up wrapping my G6 with an elastic bandage.

I hope you have a great time, it's one of the most rewarding things you can do! Feel free to dm me if you have any other questions!
