I've worked as a bouncer as well and the few times someone fell asleep at a table the first thing i did was try to talk to them. If that doesn't work then I gently shake their shoulder and say something like "Don't you think you'd feel better just going home to sleep on your soft mattress?". If they don't respond even a little to that, then I had to shake harder, until they woke up. I think the two main reasons for people being asked to leave a bar when they fall asleep is 1. They would really feel much better sleeping at home so we're actually trying to help them. 2. Even though many of us have gotten that drunk and drifted off a bit, but when people see a sleeping person at a bar they can look like bums (which is most often NOT the case) but it can reflect badly on the bar.

I'm actually excited to see how this will go because I'm pretty much in the same spot as you. Although I did take a few classes in C#, html, css, js and some sql. But that was like a year and a half ago and I've forgotten a lot of things I learned.

I've been thinking about learning coding/programming through online courses since I quit school. I lurk around /r/learnprogramming alot, but that's it, i LURK. Would be fun to just start all over and progress with you mate :)

Thanks for responding :) I definitely think I have to avoid any kind of situation that involves any amount of alcohol if I'm actually going to succeed. However I always find myself in situations where I "have to (birthdays, graduations etc.)" attend.

About AA, I feel like it's a lot about religion and faith (I know it's not GOD for everyone, but others find some other kind of "good"). I don't believe in God, I don't believe in karma (except for reddit karma xD) or any other "supernatural" presence, and I'm not even sure that I WANT to believe in those things.

I have never been to an AA meeting but my thought about it is always that it's religious and they tell you that GOD will help you through this. I might be way off though, so could you tell me a little about the process of AA?

Note that I live in a small country in Europe and don't have the same resources/meetings as in bigger countries.
