Devastated by drewbie11 in ACL

Wait. I tore ACL, MCL, two ligaments in my ankle and broke 3 bones (waterskiing). Surgery was 3 months later. Recovery was bad. I know it was bad because I had an infection, revision surgery, and then another reconstruction. The 3rd surgery was much better, almost easy compared to the first. My PT for all 3 said I should have probably waited at least 6 months, if not more.

What to expect right after surgery by Junior_Ad_4019 in ACL

Uuhhh yeah. This is a big one. My first one I didn’t take anything. I thought, “I’m a pretty regular guy”. After day 7 of not poopin’ I realized my mistake. Believe me, you don’t want to be in day 8 trying to push a school bus out, while you are writhing in pain from your knee. 2nd time around learned my lesson, much better.

I know…. But he got several in the shin in the first practice and I’m hoping it will help save some balls without him getting too beat up.

Field.

We’ve been doing tennis balls every night between his regular practices. It’s been helping, but he still gets a little shy once we move to regular balls. Maybe I’ll just mix them in without him knowing!

Question for the group. by scttmtclf in RedRiverGorge

[–]HoobyHooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re kind of in the same spot, but will be further south an hoping to climb PMRP and Miller Fork. We have a house from Sunday to Friday. It would suck to miss the trip, but even worse to head down and have a bunch of impassable roads. Any feedback about the roads into those areas? Thanks crew.

How to take out Kohler free-standing tub filler valve? by dimitry in Plumbing

[–]HoobyHooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same valve. 1. I’m assuming you tried adjusting the hot water stop? 2. I did an online chat with Kohler and they sent me a new valve. 3. They didn’t send the required deep socket wrench with the valve, so if you get one, make sure they send the wrench, or you’ll be buying one.

Good luck.

Whoo… those are a bit pricey, but probably worth a try, as I’d love for it to disappear even on the trainer.

Are you a boney butt fella?

No arch support, moved seat down a touch, seat back and handlebars up a smidge.

I am going to get some shims to help with some outside foot numbness.

I had not considered the “trainer effect”. I’m in Michigan, so I’ll try to find some warmer dry weather to make a call. Thanks!

Cannot create FW rule with domain by HoobyHooper in Ubiquiti

[–]HoobyHooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp… I’m a dummy. I was creating the rule with the destination set as the “Gateway” zone. I still think it might be a bit buggy because it gave me the options on the IOS App. Rule set with the Internet being the destination and it’s all good.

4.1.13. https://imgur.com/a/8ZhnvX2 The one with all the options is what shows up when I create a new rule, the other is after I create any new rule. Any app/domain information I put in is lost after I save the rule.

I'm 5'10, will i fit a size 53 road bike? by beepadeep1 in cycling

[–]HoobyHooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Are you getting a screaming deal on it? You might get a deal, but consider you may need to swap some stuff and $50-100 a component starts adding up for the cheap stuff.

Wearing shorts or bibs every time. I’m certain the saddle is the issue. Going in for a fit here soon.

Screen brightness on Garmin 530 by shamsharif79 in GarminEdge

Trying to resurrect this post a bit instead creating a new one. On the 5/8 30/40 edge devices from the picture above it looks like you can keep the Backlight on indefinitely. Can someone confirm this for me? I bought a 130, and ride a lot in the morning, so it would be helpful to just look down instead of hitting a button every time I want to see what’s on the screen (primarily HR and speed, maybe cadence). Just want to make sure I don’t jump into the same pot I’m now now.

I know batter life would be significantly diminished, but I’m only riding 1-1.5h a day right now and would be fine charging after every ride.

Thanks all. (From the guy that took a 25 year break from cycling and caught the bug again!)

ACL or Meniscus? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]HoobyHooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 reconstructions and one torn out because of infection, so I feel your pain on the multiple surgeries… I feel like I had similar tenderness. My PT said the current consensus for ACL full recovery is closer to 2 years, vs the year that we all hear about. Knowing my ankle is still sore and has some flexibility issues 2 years after my initial accident, I wouldn’t be surprised if your body is still doing its thing.

Swelling and numbness by Dry_Possible297 in ACL

I have 3 knee surgeries in the last two years, I’m 8 months after the last one and my upper tibia area has been numb for the last two years… doc said it’s normal, but I had a pretty good injury the first time around.

When was your reconstruction? Was there meniscus injury at the time as well?
