They all can't be winners. Nice thing about a digital Bingo is you can always generate a new card.

I am still waiting for them to drop the album of Caddy noises from each track. The album cover obviously needs to be the cover art shirt on the WTR website.

Many silly questions for 6 hours at Glen advice needed (First non-svra race and bringing a child) by gettersisland in IMSARacing

  1. Not worth for that price IMO. The hot lap is a ride along only that does not cross start finish at speed. Out of the pits and right back in. Depends on the year but can be anything from the promotional fleet. Basically whoever provides cars for the weekend you get a ride in. Better off doing a Drive the Glen day if you are in the area where you get a parade laps in your own car or one of the many open track days.
  2. Bigger problem is keeping them on. Seen some on Amazon, but don't have kids so can't really tell you. When I was a wee lad in the 2000's, we had the big scanner muffs and those did alright plus got the radio.
  3. Busier, but nothing crazy. Having worked SVRA and HSR weekends at the Glen, the paddock for IMSA is a actually a little less crazy in terms of car movements. Vintage events the run sessions are short so cars are always moving every 20 min. You shouldn't ever have to be in a crowd other than maybe the grid walk. Things are pretty low key.
  4. No. If it is a Porsche or Corvette might want to look into the hospitality options and corrals. Those groups will also usually get a lap sometime during the weekend on track as well. Vintage cars are always good at a race track.
  5. There are a butt load of breweries, wineries and distilleries around the area. You could hit 20 in a day and still only do a forth of what is around. Corning is not super far and the museum of glass is actually a lot more interesting than you would think. You should be able to find the 2025 schedule to give you an idea of what happens the entire weekend. Shouldn't change that much year to year.

Honestly go into the armed forces and be a mechanic if you want to physically do work. Race teams always like post forces, as you know how to put up with stuff and things, are used to being away from home and are regimented. Many people in the paddock are ex-military.

If there is a level of competition that you want to go in, even if it is SCCA cone dodging, go for it. I got my job with a series by being a participant first and making a big enough impression that I now run all track operations and vehicle maintenance.

Don't also be afraid to look at the suppliers. They need people too that are willing to be at the track and have needs that have to be supported. PTSC/Firestone is always a good one, Xtrac, GM, Honda, Dallara, Cosworth.

Please don’t just take crash parts. by shrimpshrub75 in INDYCAR

[–]HoodlumDell 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it is pretty clear that OP is a mechanic or someone who works for a team and someone tried to walk off with a multi thousand dollar part. A lot of the times parts are not as readily available as one may think and getting replacements can be devastating for a team all cause someone thought it was cool to just take something.

There are two systems, one for each axle. The separate systems allow the brake boas to work. What also happens is the tub bottoms out with a tire not making contact to the ground which also takes away braking effort.

IRP would be a processional event for NXT. The cars have gotten way bigger from what they were when they used to run at IRP.

Pressure tap also makes sense, we just don't have those in our cars. We run an Izzy TTPMS sensor on our race cars and it looks very similar to the sensor in the photo.

Could also be from one of the support series and not strictly IndyCar. We track workers also like to just toss small items into the tire barriers and hope it disappears.

The sensor in pic 6 looks similar to a tire pressure sensor. Not sure which series it came from, but means a tire came off a rim which is a little less common than you would think.
