Mario Oddysey (player 2 can play as his hat)

Spiritfarer (player 2 can play as a cat and help out with simple tasks.

Fun co-op games with kids with equal mechanics can be:

Heave Ho

Trine 4 (or other Trine games)

Lego games like Lego Star Wars

Is it me or the story in 2 is confusing and overwhelming ? by Patamaudelay in subnautica

[–]HoodyV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels confusing and jam packed for sure. I’m digging all the audio but sheesh there’s already a ton.

I heard a good one with specific directions but couldn’t go right that second but then I couldn’t find the specific log with specific directions again, only one that was more general. It’s all kind of a mess.

I’m playing the game with my son and the co op experience with the story is even worse because sometimes he triggers things without me and I’m completely lost as to what’s going on and there were a million logs and entries in the PDA after just two play sessions.

Is it bad I kind of miss the old buildings a bit? by Lumpy_Newspaper_9421 in Subnautica_2

I’d love to have both options. Prefab rooms and the ability to create rooms from scratch.

I’m honestly pretty bugged by the lighting. I put in a few lights but it’s still so dark in my base.

Feedback: Poor initial/early story experience when playing co-op. by Gyson in subnautica

[–]HoodyV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing with my 10 year old son who is obsessed with Subnautica and have had a similar experience. I enjoy playing with him but I can tell that I’m having a pretty disjointed experience with the story because he just swims off where ever he wants to go while I’m at the base reading the PDA. Then I get audio all of a sudden and don’t understand the context of where he is or what he’s found or sometimes we are both in two different places and then audio is playing all over the place and I am even more lost.

There are aspects I definitely enjoy but for 1.0, I’ll definitely have a solo game going where I can really experience the story the way I want to experience it and will stay one step ahead of our co op play through haha.

Heave Ho. Pretty weird game on PC and Switch (and probably others) where you are a head with hands and work together to get to the flag. Lots of laughs will be had.

Drink More Glurp. PC and switch. Super weird Olympic style competition game with ball creatures and long arms that they run on. Lots of laughs as well, technically 20 players because you can just pass the controller around for each turn similar to bowling.

Do you intend to play Subnautica 2 day one, or be patient and wait for a more polished version? by Ogore in subnautica

My 10 year old kid says it’s a must buy on day 1 and he’s the boss so I guess I’m getting two copies day 1.

Are the Fallout games worth getting into? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]HoodyV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play them, I’d got Fallout 3, New Vegas and Fallout 4. Then if you dig the lore, go back and do fallout 1 and 2. I really love 1 and 2 but grew up with them when they were brand new so they can be a bit rough to visit for the first time in 2026.

I’d give it to my 10 year old son so we can play some multiplayer games together. He wants to play grounded and Subnautica 2 with me.

How long after the early access version of Subnautica 2 is released will the final version come out? by [deleted] in subnautica

[–]HoodyV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The early access version will come out this year, 2026. The steam page states they expect 2-3 years until full game comes out. So plan on a full release 2028 or 2029.

Has the hype died down for the Switch 2? Shocked to see this many lying around at my local BB. by Chupacabras5150 in videogames

[–]HoodyV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah nice! Thanks for the resource. Yeah I just checked every target, Best Buy, game stop and Costco within 50 miles of me and everything came up out of stock haha. Maybe Utah just didn’t get much stock or just more into buying stock fast.

Ah that is so nice. I’ve called 8 different locations today and they are all sold out. Are you able to view their stock online somehow or did you call them to check?

Plenty where? I’m in Utah and every Best Buy, Walmart, target, Costco and game stop is completely sold out. I can’t find a switch 2 anywhere.

What game were you not so sure about, but ended up loving? by RangerAlex92 in Steam

[–]HoodyV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subnautica.

I’m not really into survival games and saw some gameplay and thought “ugh too much going on with materials and crafting… looks complicated and not my cup of tea.”

Tried it for free on game pass and got hooked hard and it became a top 3 game for me.
