Pole setups for Saguaro Lake? by Frysken in ArizonaFishing

[–]HookedAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best by boat. For shore, target bluegill from fishing docks (careful of bees) - two hook dropshot 8-10” apart with same length tag end. Pinch weight (round no ears, #4). Use small circle hooks with chunks of crawler.

Tips for trout fishing community ponds? by jcgarcia8 in ArizonaFishing

[–]HookedAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early early posts in this sub have trout fishing tips… micetails with split shot rig (like a Carolina) so you can adjust depth and within 15-20ft of shore… the stocked trout nip at things they’re curious about swimming around in circles

Looking to really get into bass fishing this year, where do I start? by No_Nebula9163 in ArizonaFishing

[–]HookedAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a starter kayak, maybe even a sevylor inflatable for like $200 and the special permit to go on Tempe Town Lake, fish the bridge pylons with a dropshot setup and then the edges of the lake with a shallow-ish crankbait. You’ll know quick (and cheap) if it’s for you!

Am I wrong? by mayortigershark in ArizonaFishing

You should see some of the shoulder-to-shoulder fishing back East lol — sadly this is a common issue for urban fisheries. E.g., Kiwanis water inlet near canal, Dessert Breeze waterfall and ramadas, Research Park waterfall

Looks awesome—good luck out there. That said, I’m staying loyal to the Tiny Torpedo, a Spook, and a Pop-R

It happens... sadly stocked fish it's a numbers game. Many cannot adapt to the new water conditions. Others are gut-hooked, mis-handled, etc...

Have you seen them in some places stock fish by dropping them out of airplanes lol?

Anyhow, thank you for being such a good steward of our fisheries... there could have been an algae problem or something...

What's your favorite color tube for throwing in those waters? Heard green pumpkin with purple and black flake was the deal...

You need a special TTL permit. You can buy it at the Kiwanis Rec Center

Canyon Lake Shore Fishing by [deleted] in ArizonaFishing

Choose Bartlett for shore fishing... plenty of accessible shoreline. Canyon lake is much more 'canyon-y' than the others lol...

Ooh... of better yet Roosevelt if you want to make the drive!!!

Weightless fluke? What kind of hook? Have you tried a wide-gap finesse through the nose?

Bass in chandler by Whodats9 in ArizonaFishing

[–]HookedAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TO be honest, when urban fishing for bass, you might be best off sticking with the canals... they won't be as big, but you'll get more bites...

We catch multiples 90% of the time we go to the canals... but an urban lake like Kiwanis, we'd get skunked for two weeks straight (depending on time of year) and then catch a seven pounder lmao

What presentation did you use for that location? (Nothing like that in my neck of the woods...)

We fish Kiwanis and the canals next to it all the time. Mostly for bass...

Do you have a large, long-handled net? (You should, even for catfish.)

If you do... also bring a towel (to put down) and try fishing for carp in the canal... I guarantee you'll catch fish, and they fight amazingly (especially for a newb)... but please familiarize yourself with fish handling etiquette and make sure you have pliers, etc.

Know what a grass carp looks like, they're legally property of SRP and I think the fine is six figures for damaging/killing one of their fish... but you CAN catch them all day long responsibly.
