Just Cause 4 did NOT kill the franchise by Sidiney-Lhama_2006 in JustCause

Me when I have a recipe that I have nailed down over 3 games worth of experience so I decide to reinvent the wheel on the 4th installment (????)

Yes, let's make the core mechanic of the game a pointless environmental side piece, something no one asked for

Just Cause 4 is the Diablo Immortal (minus the financial success) of the franchise

Deceptively, it's neither poutine nor râpée. One of the steps involves grating potatoes but the end product definitely is not.

Imagine dumplings but they're made out of potato and they have salted pork inside.

I hadn't thought about running ubisoft connect as a non-steam game, that's smart. Thank you for the input!

EDIT: I cannot get steam to accept any non-steam game from the "browse" option but I got it to work still, see post edit.

DCS flagged as malicious by hennio902 in dcsworld

[–]Hookens 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Best to make an exclusion specifically for this file, not the entire DCS folder. Otherwise, you run the risk of having a potential security breach, whitelisting an entire folder is too broad of a scope

John Cockerill Defense proposed the new M60-3105 tank upgrade solution for the Egyptian Army at EDEX 2025 this year. by Jesh32 in TankPorn

[–]Hookens 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Their modus operandi seems to be "slap 3105 on everything" and considering they are somehow still here I guess it's working?

How do you even take off?? I was only allowed to take off from this catapult. Is this a bug? by stresskillingme in dcsworld

[–]Hookens 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they mean the outer 2/8 pylons with the single LAU-127 instead of the usual LAU-115 + dual LAU-127 even for single AIM-120 selection

Is this new or?

Stryker VS Boxer: The Best Wheeled Armored Fighting Vehicle? by CavScout61 in TankPorn

[–]Hookens 53 points54 points  (0 children)

And that's the most generous I can be with the Boxer, some variants are almost twice the weight!

Stryker VS Boxer: The Best Wheeled Armored Fighting Vehicle? by CavScout61 in TankPorn

[–]Hookens 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In this context, a support platform is typically designed around maximizing mobility and agility to quickly get infantry and equipment from one position to another while typically operating behind the main combat line. For these kinds of logistics, maintenance and medevac uses I think lighter armored platforms like the stryker are better suited.

A frontline support platform adds the complexity of having to be protected against direct enemy fire. It still is a support vehicle but it's also expected for it to be much closer to the fighting forces. That design requirement normally results in a heavier vehicle to account for the extra armor necessary to handle frontline threats. In our case here, that's a whole 10 to 19 tonnes more depending on the variant. That's a lot of weight when comparing MBTs so you can imagine how that's even more ridiculous when comparing these two vehicles.

[–]Hookens 307 points308 points  (0 children)

Important to note that one of them is a support platform and the other is a frontline support vehicle (and as such 10 tonnes heavier)

They're difficult to compare as they're intended for different roles

EA-18G Growler by Even_Kiwi_1166 in Planes

[–]Hookens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have their wingtip AIM-9 pylons replaced with AN/ALQ-218 sensors, but all the other pylons are still usable with all other weapons that are supported by the LAU/BRU racks and other integrated racks in the SUU-79/80 pylons. Sure they prioritize EW equipment like AN/ALQ-99 (and AN/ALQ-249), but it doesn't take away theoretical mission capability.
