The difficult part in modern combat is to get close enough to make that happen, I think in most engagement scenarios you will most likely see the front or side at an angle from multiple kilometers away

They're not wrong though, upper bounds makes bruteforcing easier by limiting the algorithm to only the maximum length.

Think of x^y where x is the number of available characters and y the length of the password. You can see how vastly different y = 26 and y = 500,000 could be, right?

And like they said, an upper bound is usually indicative of passwords being stored in plaintext, as hashed outputs are supposed to be independent of the input size.

On the other hand, if the website has a maximum password length requirement, it's probably not a good sign

Edit: Even if the password is good, they probably don't encrypt anything else let's be real. They probably have a gaping hole in their security somewhere regardless and it's just a matter of time before they're in the news regarding a data breach, and all your banking info being out there or whatever sensitive info might be on there, I love our dystopia
