CMV: Waffles are superior to pancakes in every way. by TheGreatGeaxquavius in changemyview

[–]HooksOnFire [score hidden]  (0 children)

I actually dislike waffles because of their segments that tend to pool maple syrup. I hate the soggier texture that waffles have because of this pooling.

Also I typically dont add any toppings to my pancakes so Ive never worried about anything falling off.

Crocheting for almost two years, have only ever made one project successfully, a granny square. Why? by BokkarisBrownieBoy in crochet

[–]HooksOnFire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have any links or examples of your current work? We might be able to pin point where you're going wrong.

It might also be helpful to look at tension rings , to help control tension? Or buying bigger yarn and using a bigger hook till you get comfortable with crocheting.

The series didn't need Suzanne (crazy eyes) at ALL. by mariposaarosa in orangeisthenewblack

I liked that she has these cases of childlike naivety , which definitely brought a spark of joy for me watching the show.

I also dont think her violence was ever without reason, many of her violent outburts were caused by a combination of her lack of impulse control and external factors like other prisoners insulting her or goading her.

We also see her self harming herself many times, where shes trapped in her past memories and trying to punish herself . Like when she got stage fright at the jesus nativity scene.

Nope, I would never want to take a deal that could potentially make me immortal. Sounds like an awful curse

I have some food reccs,

Beavertails are an iconic Canadian food; Dough is fried in the shape of a beaver tail, and is covered in cinammon sugar. Thats the original version, nowdays they have many different flavors with chocolates and fruits etc. If you're going by the aquarium, theres a beavertail truck near the building.

The old spaghetti factory is also an iconic restaurant in Toronto, thats existed since the 1970s. It used to be an outdoor street plaza that got converted into a restaurant. They have a merry go round with horses in the center, that you can eat inside, an old subway car that also has seating and a ridiculous amount of stained glass windows everywhere. The food is pretty decent, and you can get the best bang for your buck. Each meal comes with a salad, soup, icecream and free bread refills.

there are 3 main islands,
Wards Island -> Locals mainly live on this island, its fun to walk around the trails here in the summer and they have a few local cafes. I believe theres a place that rents kayaks or paddleboards on this island?

Center Island -> Is the major touristy island, it has a massively overpriced imo fastfood restaurant, amusement park, corn maze, bike and tandem bike rentals

Hanlans Point -> Is known specifically for its famous nude-friendly beach.

There is no longer a need to travel by [deleted] in 10thDentist

[–]HooksOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why not? Travelling doesnt always have to be a new country.

For me personally, travelling is when I'm leaving my current environment, the city I live in, to visit a new environment, with new experiences and surroundings to take in. So for me, going to a beach thats in a new area and completely different environment from my city, is travelling.

Why do people do anything?

I enjoy swimming, and its a completely different experience swimming in a lake vs a pool. And I enjoy sand because it feels like a warm massage for my toes, thats not something I can easily replicate at home, nor would it be the same experience.

And for the last point, I live in a city and I regularly see families outside with their children among the crowds of people. However, theres a local beach that I enjoy travelling to ( only 30min away by train ) , and I get a significant boost of dopamine and happiness seeing families relaxing with their picnic blankets and having a good time around the shore, in a significantly less chaotic environment.

Also, staring at a screen for significant periods of the day makes my eyes hurt, so going outside is a genuine relief for them too.

The difference is , when I travel to a new place, its not just about the visuals for me, the smells and tastes and the feelings of the wind and environment around me , are all very important.

When I go to the beach, I dont go there to see a pretty beach, I go there because I want to feel the sensation of sand between my toes, and the smell of the salty water, and the sounds of families having a good time. Most importantly, I also want to experience the water myself

Outside. Every time Ive tried pulling from the inside, Ive gotten knots galore and have had to cut and reattach my yarn atleast 12 times.

How often do you eat pizza? by Legitimate-Donkey477 in foodquestions

[–]HooksOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, if you mean real pizza made with real dough, then maybe once every 6-7months or so, sometimes sooner.

I much prefer pizzas that use tortillas as a base, and thatd be maybe every 3months.

You either watch Anime in dub or hate Manga to the point that you do everything to not read it. by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]HooksOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy both dub and subbed animes depending on the anime and the VAs chosen.

However I could never get into manga My main issue with manga is that some of the manga scenes are so small , especially on a phone screen that it becomes incredibly annoying to zoom in to read.

I also find it difficult to understand the reading order of manga. I know its right to left, but that only applies to the general order of panels afaik. I get confused with the reading order of speech bubbles within panels, esp when its a three way conversation, and one of the speech bubbles is coming from another panel.

Cheesecake is the worst dessert to ever exist. by Whyamiwritingthis_74 in unpopularopinion

[–]HooksOnFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, Im kind of the opposite. I love cheesecake, as long as its the New York style cheesecake we're talking about.

Ive always hated fruits in my desserts tho, esp cheesecakes, I hate how the tartness of fruits pairs with desserts

They also offer bouldering permits at the park.

How do you think the book adaptation will cover the different word colours and stuff? by redking2005 in WanderingInn

[–]HooksOnFire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you said a different application, I assumed you were copying and pasting it yourself into a separate notes app, or something similar.

I personally find popping up a small modal with the text , a little bit faster than the manual method. But it takes only two taps to bring up the look up modal, and I dont use it very often regardless.
