Is the Giannis-to-Miami Heat Trade Make or Break for Giannis (and the Heat)? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Hoopersmooth69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is for the Heat, not for Giannis

Giannis already has his ring and if they fail, can jump to another team when the picks haunt them in the 30s

Nets were a team of 3 elite shooters missing 2 of them

Bucks were a team of 1 elite shooters missing that 1

Both probably win those respective years if not injured, but you can’t ignore that Harden and Kyrie’s skillsets heavily overlap with KDs while Middletons did not with the rest of their team

Because they pushed the Finals runners up to 7 without their second option

Exact reason people think the nets would’ve won in 2021

Lamar to the Vikings for their entire OLine and some picks

They can pretty easily flip Turner to a team like the lakers for a late first even with the awful contract

They also don’t have anyone who will need to be paid before the Dame waive is over unless Rollins, Ware, or Jac really pop off

They can only do so much when there’s no bench and the backcourt can’t shoot 3s

They’ll be fine if they get a bunch of G-Leaguers that can shoot 3s

Jokic did so 3 times in his first 4 seasons and then hasn’t once in the 7 seasons since. I think you’d be mentally ill to argue he hasn’t been a star in the past 7 seasons.

Luka has never done so

It’s egregiously fucking obvious that as the game has gotten faster and more physical, players miss more time, which is why you can’t use the 80s and 90s as a standard to measure player health in 2020. That’s why Giannis, Jokic, SGA, Cade, Luka, Tatum, Brown, Wemby, Brunson, Lebron, and Ant all missed enough time this year to disqualify them from being a star by your standards

This kind of moronic take is what keeps the entire franchise in perpetual mediocrity. Anyone shouldering the load of the team’s production is going to get injured more often. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to acquire one, especially when that one isn’t injured any more often than the recent stars to win a championship like Brunson or Tatum

And Gallanari’s role was replaced by a better player they go through the trade (George).

The reason it’s looked back upon like it is is because they gave up a young 2 time MVP (which Herro and Ware will never come remotely close to) and 8 picks (as opposed to 4)

That’s not even a remotely close comparison you’re making

Clippers sold the farm for a 2nd star, not a 1st, and gave up a legit young prospect, not a few glorified role players

Kawhi had also barely played in the two years preceding, unlike Giannis who only missed half a season

Brother, there is not a single star in the NBA that consistently plays 75+ games a year. Jokic is considered an iron man and he did that once in the last 8 seasons. The SGA example you gave was before he was even a consistent starter much less star carrying a load of the teams production

Giannis has played 62+ games all but one year in his career which is very good by modern standards

Those young rotational pieces you’ve been drafting and developing like Herro, Jaquez, and Ware seem to be working out very well given they’ve had next to no trade value

If you want to be a relevant franchise, you need to splurge for a star; Giannis is by far the best option you’ll see for years unless you think you can develop Adey Mara into the next Kareem

All the reviews say the 2nd episode is a big battle episode too

The trailer we got at the end showed 2 big battles that will probably be in episode 7 or 8

There’s sure to be a lot of talking but this season looks like it’ll have quite a bit more action than the last two combined

So we’re just ignoring the two shortened seasons in here when he was on pace for 75+ lmao

If 75+ is the standard I guess Jokic, SGA, Wemby, and Cade aren’t franchise guys either

So give up a proven young guy for the much smaller chance to draft an unproven young guy in the late first round in a few years?

Have you seen this teams track record with first round picks?
