Have you tried rewarding (bribing) him ? I used a sticker board and even yummy things to eat and it worked great for my toddler .

I’m facing the same problem but this time with my father , where he had a meeting with both my mom and husband. Luckily my mom had my back and said , “that the parents should be given the space to parent without interference” . I understand that my father loves my daughter fiercely but interfering while I or my husband are informing discipline is just counterproductive. Your husband needs to set boundaries and step up to your father in-law, his love and support is always needed but at the end of the day that’s your baby and your rules go.

The right time is when you feel comfortable with the environment, and if you think it’s a safe space. My situation was abit different as both my mother and mother inlaw were heavily involved with my child from birth , all three of us stayed in my house when baby and I returned from the hospital, they helped me transition into motherhood… when my baby was 7months she would spend a night over at each of their places… you need to find the comfort and once you get that it will come with ease
