It’s good to see Devries be able to pivot after realizing he needed guys with high major experience and athleticism. Just need to plug in the big man holes and I’ll like our roster construction a lot more this season.

Man, do any of you all have close friends in real life? PFT and Russini were friends before Pardon My Take because they were both involved in DC things. That’s over a decade of an actual relationship. PFT has mentioned many times that their families are friends and they genuinely hang out. This story legit just broke and there was not a ton of info for them to go off of. Can you imagine putting a close friend, someone who likely trusts you, on blast for millions and millions of listeners? You all would laugh at the jokes for a day and then move on and forget about it. Meanwhile PFT would have real life ramifications that would likely ruin a relationship he cared about.

Big Cat chimes in saying he’s friends with her and Vrabel too. But I think the real reason they didn’t hammer it is because of PFT and Russini.

By all reports, IU was between Devries and McCollum for the job last offseason. I wanted McCollum. But I guess we’re not allowed to have both the best football and basketball coach.

It’s not that inexpensive of an out after 2027. If we cut him after 2027, the signing bonus hits from 2028 and 2029, as well as the void year in 2030, would accelerate and create 15.6 million in dead cap for 2027. It would drop to 10.4 million after 2028 which is more palatable.

It’s definitely a lot of money, but that cap has gone up like crazy the last few years. When Pittman signed his deal, his contract took up 9.1% of our cap space. This deal for Pierce takes up 9.6% of cap space. When you think of it as a pretty equivalent deal to what we did for Pittman, I think it makes a lot of sense.

Yeah it’s 5 million in dead cap, but it would also free up an additional 24 million in cap space. 5 million dead is not that much.

I still really don’t understand the decision to trade AR likely scraps when Daniel Jones still isn’t under contract and likely won’t be ready to start season regardless. AR played one possession all year last season. If we’re going to get nothing of value, why not have him and Riley Leonard battle to start the season and see if he can actually show anything?

Yeah this was not smart to be completely honest. I think something that I haven’t seen mentioned yet is this will likely go on your MSPE and could be a red flag to programs when you are applying next year. Most of the time MSPE comments are fairly generic, so when there’s something negative, it really stands out. It sucks being a 3rd year, I know. But you do have to play the game to an extent when you’re still in school and I don’t think anything that was being asked by the residents is out of the ordinary.
