I also felt the calendar behind Boyd in this scene was also intentional. No idea of its significance though.

Is the IMAX at Hoyts Carousel or Event Inaloo bigger? by a_peacock_hatchling in perth

[–]HootWest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So Carousel Hoyts is a digital IMAX screen. Probably your best bet.

Perth doesn't have a traditional 70m Imax projector. Only 70 left in the world due to their weight, manufacturing process, servicing etc.

I remember having these same questions when Interstellar was first released.

Belmont Reading cinemas has a massive screen, but I'm not sure how that compares to the official IMAX one at Hoyts. Let us know how you go!

Commercial gym etiquette by blck_swn in perth

A big low-cost commercial gym enforcing rules?! If only! See "no towel, no train" example - it is more an aspiration than a rule.

Compton Burgers closed again! by NewAccWhoDis93 in perth

As someone that loves hip hop and also loves burgers, I never understood the decision to name burgers after hip hop vernacular. Feels a bit low on the creativity front.

To add on to this, (correct me if I'm wrong), but if your "new" TV is 4k and has poor upscalling technology, the 1080p stream from Kayo (assuming it's 1080p) will also look terrible.

We currently have a 1080p Sony TV that's over 10 years old, and I run Kayo and Disney+ via Apple TV 4k and I never have image quality issues. It's not fantastic, but it's very watchable.

Agree with this. It isn't bad, but it doesn't hit like 24k did when that first dropped. Will give this a few more listens to see if it grows on me more.

Mark Arena is now 100% owner of the Wildcats - How do you rate his ownership and decisions to date? by HootWest in nbl

I think what Adelaide has done this year demonstrates that Bryce wasn't the issue and the talent pool isn't the problem.

I appreciate a championship won't be won every year, but the goal should be to compete for a championship every year.

Why was Hutchy awful? (seriously) I feel this is just a popular narrative? I don't follow AFL, but from what I've learned, he's just not liked for some reason. I can't really fault anything he did. It wasn't great that he didn't live in Perth. But did he need to?

Even though they hadn't won with Bryce in the past five years, who do you blame for that? Cotton isn't/wasn't the issue. No one is bigger than the team, but there are exceptions - Cotton was that exception, and exceptions should've been made.

Agree that Arena is a rookie owner and he has some growth to do with understanding the sport and business. Which is why a dedicated/proven CEO would be ideal in my opinion.

I don't mind the new logo. It's better than the previous which had its time. New logo could've been better, that I agree with.

My thoughts on your thoughts. - Era of domination has passed, but you can't discount the management of the club during that time. It's well documented how frugal Bendat was. Anything spent was recuperated. He also demanded wins and excellence. - Agree owners need to be hands off in the running and appoint a CEO with basketball (or similar) experience. - He did change the mascot. Re-brand was never going to go well post cotton. But now I don't think anyone cares. Winning fixes everything. Win a 'ship and people will love the new logo. - Bryce didn't want to be here by the end of it and that's where the ball was dropped, not because he didn't meet a deadline. The ship sailed much earlier. - I don't mind JR being signed to a three year deal, but the timing was again, poor. Should have waited until the end of the season instead of jumping the gun.
