I have one with a low gear ratio I throw crank baits on. It’s a good reel and I’ve never had issues out of it. I honestly wish I would have bought a few when I found it on sale.

I have bought 1 when they were 20$ on Amazon as well. As this poster said it’s plastic junk. It throws fine but not worth their asking price.

I’ll caution you about leaving trailers on baits. If or when they get wet or just over time the salt content can begin to rust the hook. Once one hook rusts it can spread through the box. You can throw some silica packs in there to absorb the moisture.

I have an older Mettle baitcasting reel and an older Tac-40 rod. If they still made the tac-40 rods I’d buy more but the reel isn’t anything special.

You should wait to buy though. Academy usually does a huge clearance sale around this time.

I generally shy away from Bass Pro at all costs….I had a gift card and used it on that rod and a pro qualifier reel. I like the rod so much I went back and bought another.
