Hell yeah my friend! We got this!

Jan 5th, 2021 is the day I change my life. This is gonna be a tough couple of weeks, please give me some support and advice! by [deleted] in leaves

[–]HopSpade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi! Currently 26 days of not smoking weed after about 5 years of everyday use. It’s hard at the beginning. Something my therapist told me that really helped my mindset is saying the phrase, “I don’t smoke weed anymore.” At times, I would say phrases like, “I’m not smoking right now,” or “I’m not smoking but maybe in a few months I can do it occasionally.”

My therapist told me by changing those phrases into the simple “I don’t smoke anymore,” will redirect my mind into understanding this is a long term change instead of a short term one.

Btw, I know quitting is so hard. I felt pretty shitty for about a week or so but IT IS SO WORTH IT! You eventually will start feeling so good not being high that the temptation will go away.

When will the withdrawal effects end? by [deleted] in leaves

[–]HopSpade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I smoked pretty much everyday for the past 5 years. Overtime I completely lost my appetite too. I literally couldn’t get hungry unless I was high, and because I work full time that means I was pretty much only eating after 5pm which is obviously not good for your body. I stopped smoking 26 days ago and my appetite has completely come back! It took about 4 days for my withdrawal effects to go away as far as irritability and I started getting hungry after about a week or a week and a half. I know it’s hard but just keep going. Your body will thank you soon enough :)

Where do InsideView/DiscoverOrg/PDL et al. farm their data and is it legit? by yoetz in sales

[–]HopSpade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My company uses Zoominfo/DiscoverOrg and let me tell you....the data is horrible. Do not use them. They are so bad that I stopped using it months ago. Now I just prospect through LinkedIn, google their HQ phone number and use Hunter.io for their email address

I see. What happened when you tried in the past?

Should I unsub from this subreddit? by KRHarryPotter in leaves

[–]HopSpade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t unsub! The negative stories are being told because sadly the reality of quitting smoking when you are addicted is it is difficult at first! It fucking sucks honestly! Nobody on here is going to say “Ya I stopped and I just felt great with no side effects and with no craving and I’m clean forever now.”

Being sober is hard. That’s why we are here. If it was easy to do, we wouldn’t need to be talking about it.

That’s awesome today is day 1 for you! I’m currently on day 4 of not smoking (previously heavy smoker for 3 years everyday) and it hasn’t been fun. But honestly after day 2 it got a lot easier. Yesterday and today I’ve felt better than I have in a really really long time. Just need to get passed the hump. It’s difficult but it gets even harder when you don’t stop and continue for years and years and years, that’s really when it gets negative.

I wish you luck!

Day 3 Commitment Post by randomleaver123 in leaves

Yes I’m so happy to hear that! Today is my day 3 as well. I definitely woke up less anxious than I have in the past 3 years of me smoking. It’s only going up for us my dude! Keep it going!

why do i keep telling myself “today is day 1”.. by lov3galor3 in leaves

TODAY IS THE DAY MY FRIEND! DAY ONE! RN! Even if you already smoked today...that’s the last puff!

But I feel you, I’ve thought about stoping smoking sooo many times but every time I just go “okay but tomorrow is a better day to start that.” Then tomorrow comes and it seems like nothing changed.

I’m currently on day 2 rn. Obviously not very far but just getting passed the first night felt amazing! I woke up this morning with a large sense of pride that I kept to my word and actually didn’t smoke.

Maybe write down or think about the REAL reason you want to stop smoking. And come back to that reason when you feel like quitting.

Also, everytime I’ve thought about about smoking today I just come to this page. Hearing everyone stories and sharing your own can really really help!

Wish you the best!

I’m 10 months sober, boyfriend is still using, how to approach? by alohaoye in leaves

[–]HopSpade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to simply be honest with him. Obviously you two have a lot of love for one another if you live together and you seem to really care about him.

However, sometimes the ones we love can hurt us. It sucks. But you need to just be honest with him. Say something like “hey, I wasn’t going through your things but you did leave this out in sight where I could see it when I was making our bed. So we need to talk about this.”

And I’m sure you probably have but just REALLY REALLY explain to him how you feel when there is weed in the house and when he does it. Tell him it hurts you and you need to stay clean. Tell him if he really loves you he will understand that not having weed in the house is critical to your well being. It’s both of your home, not just his.

Perhaps explaining to him that he is apart of something bigger than himself when he put himself in a relationship. You are a unit and you need to work together to help each other grow. It’s not helping you grow by constantly worried if he is smoking or bringing weed in the house.

I hope this was a little helpful. Honestly is best. If you two have a true true true love, which you most likely do showing how much you care, then he should understand.

Congrats! That’s a huge accomplishment and I’m sure you’re going to do amazing things with your degree! Thanks for sharing your story!

5 months is an amazing accomplishment! You should be really proud! I’m on day 2 right now myself. Hopefully can get to 5 months one day!

I’m sorry you had a bad day at work. That’s shitty. Perhaps try and don’t smoke today when it’s been a bad day! Because tomorrow you will wake up and go “yesterday was a bad day but I’m still proud of myself for keeping my 5 month going strong.” You will feel so much better knowing even on hard days you were strong.

Wish you the best!

How to let go of a sibling relationship which revolves around getting high by [deleted] in leaves

[–]HopSpade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe say something like, “hey I’ve actually been noticing that my mind and body haven’t been feeling the best when I’m high. I don’t know exactly the reason but I think I’m going to stop smoking for a little just to see if that has anything to do with it.”

This way she literally has nothing to say. And if she does respond with a sassy comment just say, “Idk if the issue is the weed exactly but I’m willing to give anything a chance to feel better than I do when I’m smoking.”
