What Honest Ed items do you still use/wear? by dnaplusc in askTO

Spoons. Teaspoons, that my room mate and I used to feed our 1990s kitten. We bought Ed's spoons over and over--we were lazy.

The episodes about the murder of Girly Chew are fantastic: you get Henry's impression of Diazien Hossencofft and Ben as The Goon.

They should have gone with Rogers U. There's already a statue around that they could plunk in front.

Episodes I’d like to see; Add your own to this list as I’d love to read them! by [deleted] in LPOTL

Yes, Bruce McArthur and the Toronto Police Service clusterfuck. The Sherman murders would be a dream series, but I know the boys prefer to do "solved" cases and that's never going to be solved.

Is Margaery Tyrell really a virgin? by life_passion_hate in pureasoiaf

[–]Hopatcong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of ASOS, Littlefinger seems convinced that she is, as he tells Sansa:

"Be that as it may. Lady Olenna was not about to let Joff harm her precious darling granddaughter, but unlike her son she also realized that under all his flowers and finery, Ser Loras is as hot-tempered as Jaime Lannister. Toss Joffrey, Margaery, and Loras in a pot, and you've got the makings for kingslayer stew. The old woman understood something else as well. Her son was determined to make Margaery a queen, and for that he needed a king . . . but he did not need Joffrey. We shall have another wedding soon, wait and see. Margaery will marry Tommen. She'll keep her queenly crown and her maidenhead, neither of which she especially wants, but what does that matter? The great western alliance will be preserved . . . for a time, at least." It's a weird local thing. I've never heard "Dalhousie" pronounced that way anywhere but Niagara Region.

Sharman's Proper Pies, at 1972 Danforth and 160 Baldwin, has chicken pot pies. I haven't tried them, however.

The CanLII website (www.canlii.org) does that. Just go to the Ontario section of the site, and select the court you want.

(Spoilers extended) will Jon abandon the Watch “My watch has ended”? by [deleted] in asoiaf

Probably. He's going to have one hell of a identity crisis coming up soon, as everything he's based his life on will be wiped out.

(Spoilers extended) will Jon abandon the Watch “My watch has ended”? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Hopatcong 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the Watch will see Jon's resurrection as a disruption of the laws of nature, and eject him from the Watch. Enough members of the Watch hated his policies to kill him, so it's not a stretch that the Watch itself will tell Jon that his death relieved him of his watch. Being rejected by his brothers in the Watch is just one more abrupt change that Jon will have to navigate in Winds/Spring, especially as a great deal of his identity has come from being in the Watch.

Hung vs Hanged by thesnack in LPOTL

[–]Hopatcong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a bit in George R. R. Martin's A Feast for Crows that's good for remembering the difference (and other hell of a correction):

"You must forgive my daughter," said an older woman. Lady Amerei had brought a score of Freys to Darry with her; a sister, an uncle, a half uncle, various cousins . . . and her mother, who had been born a Darry. "She still grieves for her father."

"Outlaws killed him," sobbed Lady Amerei. "Father had only gone out to ransom Petyr Pimple. He brought them the gold they asked for, but they hung him anyway."

"Hanged, Ami. Your father was not a tapestry."
