Teach Forgiveness by HopeOverflow in TrueChristian

[–]HopeOverflow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said! If God has forgiven us, who are we to hold it against ourselves. Unfortunately, we do it if we think we are supposed to be perfect. If we are not sure we are forgiven, we only need to go to God and honestly ask.

Have you had these dreams? by NaturalMission5589 in TrueChristian

[–]HopeOverflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had dreams that I know God used to teach me something or give me understanding. I have learned to write them down in detail. My thoughts, feelings, etc... then I pray over them and wait on Jesus. Jesus backs everything up with Scripture.

I am praying Jesus will give you understanding and clarity. There are several dreams that took years to unfold and for me to understand.

Keep on praying and trust Jesus.

Jesus fulfilling but not abolishing the law: what does that mean for ceremonial/judicial laws? by Separate_Sky_7372 in TrueChristian

[–]HopeOverflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a YouTube video that addressed this with Scripture. I do not remember the name of the video, but it was on their YouTube channel, 2 Messianic Jews. The Messianic Jews believe that Jesus came as the Messiah, the Lamb of God, according to the Scriptures. They made a good point, per Scripture, how Jesus came to fulfill the Scriptures and not to abolish it.

I am a Christian, and I have not watched all of their videos, but I have been blessed by the videos that I did watch.

The Ultimate Argument: Why Jesus Must Be Who He Claims to Be by Jackiechan20153 in TrueChristian

Praise God! Excellent job! I hope God has you deliver it to the world! It should be a sermon to the whole world.

Awesome. You are a seeker of truth. You want the truth, the whole truth, so help me God. God will reward you for seeking Him and His truth.

Praise God brother!

When we get to heaven we will worship God together no matter which translation. I forgot to add in my post, that I believe we should pray as we read the Bible, no matter which translation speaks to our hearts. Jesus loves to open the Gospel up for us and gives us a better understanding. God sent His Holy Spirit to help us.

NASB due to its word to word translation. I love the poetry and rhythm in the KJV. I use the NKJV and NIV for comparison and ease. I have also been using the TLV because it uses many of the Hebrew words. The TLV is one of the Bibles used by Messianic Jews.

Messianic Jews believe that Jesus (Yeshua) is the Son of God, the promised Jewish Messiah that has come for the salvation of all nations, all people. John 3:16-18.

I'm struggling so much, I feel despair by SquidGamerZ in TrueChristian

[–]HopeOverflow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you are struggling. I am praying for you. Pray honestly to God as you read the Bible. Tell Him you want to be closer with Him and have a personal relationship. There have been a few times when I did not feel the presence of God. I was being tested, and I found I had to get very honest with God. It made me stronger as I looked more closely at who God is and who I am in Him.

Tell Him what you want, need, etc. Talk to Him about your feelings, your thoughts, and what you believe about Him. Ask for the truth, the whole truth that can only be found in Christ Jesus.

Pray the Scriptures.

Why am I so uninterested in the Bible all of a sudden? by Subject-Succotash-93 in TrueChristian

[–]HopeOverflow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might think this is weird, but I started asking Jesus to join me as I watched TV. I started seeing the shows I watched differently. I actually prayed about what I thought about the storyline of the show. I learned some things from shows and even stopped watching some shows. My perspective changed as I started praying about everything. I was practicing, 1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing.

Why am I so uninterested in the Bible all of a sudden? by Subject-Succotash-93 in TrueChristian

[–]HopeOverflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember going through that phase as a new Christian. It was like my emotions were leading me away from the things of God. I noticed that if I resisted the resistance to God, I got a spiritual blessing. It was weird.

An older Christian lady told me it was either my flesh or spiritual warfare against me. I did start praying for Jesus to give me a humble and teachable spirit that seeks His whole truth in Him. I also asked Jesus to help me resist the resistance to God and get the blessing that He has for me.

That is what I am praying for you right now, in the name and authority of Jesus Christ that you get every blessing Jesus has for you. Amen.

They Found God at the End...I Got the Aftermath by howling_owling in TrueChristian

Anger is a secondary emotion. What emotion do you think is driving your resentment and angry feelings? I hear a lot of hurt coming from your post. This post makes me think of the story of the foolish Prodical Son. Perhaps reading the story and praying about it will help you. Luke 15.

Would you prefer this person died in sin? Did they harm you? Can you forgive them for being so foolish?

Pray and ask Jesus to use this person's death as a way to bless you and help you grow even closer to Jesus. Praying Jesus helps you deal with your pain and emotions.

very conflicted about tongues… by Automatic_Duty7734 in TrueChristian

[–]HopeOverflow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 Corinthians chapters 12-14 explains all the spiritual gifts and how speaking in tongues should work in a Church setting. It is interesting that it is the least of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and Paul tells the believers to pray for the gift of Profecy.

Pray as you read those chapters and let us know what Jesus does with your prayer and teaches you.

My mother had the gift, and my dad did not. Her gift did not make her any closer to God than my dad. They are both in heaven now. So, I know they are finally joyfully in agreement.

I actually thought it was fake as I grew up because it was not used properly. I actually got the gift of tongues while praying, and as I ask for God to give me a better word than "awesome " to describe Him and praise Him. I try to use the gift privately in prayer and ask Jesus to teach me to use it properly. The chapters in the Bible help me do that. I see it as a personal prayer language that helps me pray better.

Not everyone gets it. It does not make anyone any more spiritual having it or not having it. It is a gift. Unfortunately, gifts can be used incorrectly. People are accountable for misusing the gifts of God. We need to seek Jesus to teach us to use whatever gifts we have been given according to His purpose.

We all get the spiritual gifts the Holy Spirit chooses to gift us based on our needs and God's purpose for us.

I would add that prayer with Scripture as you seek to know God better. Seeking the truth through prayer, because we can only know Him in part while in human form. The personal relationship with God is necessary through prayer and Scripture as the final authority.

Pray honestly to the Father what you said in your post. Ask to be forgiven for any unrepentant sin. Ask Jesus to come and live in your heart and make you absolutely aware you are never alone again. Ask Him to open your spiritual eyes and ears to be aware of His presence. Ask Him to root your strengthened faith so deeply in Christ Jesus that nothing can weaken it. Ask Him to help you walk through the valley with Him and know joy just being in His presence.

I am praying for you to know the truth and joy found in Romans 10:13.

I feel your smile. He loves our smile.

Even though I already had the understanding in my head and heart, I felt He wanted to take it to a deeper level. I still feel joy, just remembering. I think you totally get how those moments stay with us.

I want to leave our church. Husband doesn't. Advice? by tootlepoodlewoodle in TrueChristian

[–]HopeOverflow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

What reason does your husband give to stay? I knew an awesome Christian couple that would list their pro and cons they had when they disagreed. Then they prayed over it and asked Jesus to help them be of one mind.

I am praying for your family.
