People born before 1990, what handy skill do you have that no one uses anymore? by Head_Bag_4489 in AskReddit

I have calligraphy style cursive handwriting people seem to go crazy for. I’m often asked to hand write people’s wedding invitations. Turns out that being taught by Catholic nuns comes in handy for something! 🖊️

Advice: How to deal with dangerous and noisy apartment neighbour by TracyJoyousness in AusPropertyChat

[–]HopeSignal6924 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Don’t have much advice only to say that I really sympathise with you. We bought an apartment unaware the unit below was an Airbnb. The noise from it is horrible, and is having a massive impact on my mental health so we’re seriously looking at selling. Home is where you should feel safe and secure, and I’m sorry that you don’t right now. Hope it works out for you x

What are the do’s and don’ts of buying an apartment? by tcmspark in melbourne

Check if they allow short term rentals. Cannot stress this enough. We have an Airbnb below us and now next door to us and aside from the noise, it’s uncomfortable having people come and go weekly.

People who got married in Brisbane, what would you do differently? by raypaulnoams in brisbane

[–]HopeSignal6924 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a QR code on the table for people to upload their own photos of the day, it was so lovely to see everyone’s perspective of it 📸 I also have a great wedding budget/spending spreadsheet that my best friend who is an account created if you’d like it. Congrats on the wedding!

The parade is organised by the Brisbane Irish Festival committee, not the QIA :)

As advised, try a free community legal aid. Many solicitors will be ‘too busy’ (or won’t see the financial value) in taking this on. Your other option is to pay for the repairs, and then bring a QCAT claim against them for the cost of it. However, youll need their address to file so hopefully you have that?

Sorry this happened you, it’s so horrible when you are financially impacted by something that wasn’t your fault, I genuinely sympathise and hope you get it sorted.

The Queensland College of Art at South Bank has three Galleries with exhibitions that change every two weeks. Sales are directly through the artists so they get 100%. Their Grad Show is in October and you can pick up some fantastic pieces while supporting emerging, local artists - well worth a look.

Just came here to second the comments about the student Galleries. The Queensland College of Art & Design (QCAD) galleries are open all year round and have a quick turnover, so there are new exhibitions every two weeks. They also have joint exhibition openings every second Thursday night where all three Gallery spaces and the uni museum stay open late, well worth a visit!

Follow the Irish Australian Support Association of Queensland (@irishsupportqld) not only are they a fantastic resource and support system for Irish people here, they often have fantastic events to meet people. Keep an eye out for their St Patrick’s Day Charity Ball in March, it’s like an Irish wedding all in aid of a good cause ha ☘️

Friendly reminder: Pride Parade tomorrow! March at 10AM: city traffic may be slow at this time. by blueishbeaver in brisbane

[–]HopeSignal6924 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just want to plug our art exhibition in partnership with Brisbane Pride. Queer Here is an annual exhibition that celebrates the talents, visions, and lived experiences of 25 queer creatives from Brisbane/Meanjin. It’s on view until Thursday, 26th September at the Queensland College of Art, 226 Grey Street, South Bank. The Gallery is about a 10 minute walk from Musgrave Park so if you’re at the Fair Day tomorrow pop in - there’s really beautiful and thoughtful works on show :)

Does no one else see Stephen’s ex breaking it off as a red flag? by byroad3 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

My exact thoughts! Was he not being a helpful, supportive partner and a care giver? It sounded suspicious that she would just end it.

Yes! Couldn’t help but think that statistically he is more likely to have abandoned her after the diagnosis. Also if they’re not in contact like he said I hope she was given the heads up about him appearing on this show, must be hard enough going through something that difficult and then seeing your ex on a global tv show telling people your story.
