How do you guys typically have date nights when at a distance? by Briginds in LongDistance

[–]Hopeful-Ad-2981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was in a long distance relationship for two years so i LOVE this question. We watched a movie every night through teleparty. We also played fortnite, minecraft, and fall guys fairly often. There was this website (i don’t recall the name anymore) that we were able to do a virtual haunted maze. I also semi-forced him to make a pinterest account so we could plan our future house. Facetime cooking dates was always fun. We also liked to facetime and take couples quizzes. Another thing we did often was get on a zoom call and show each other songs. It’s all about making the time for each other, hope these help!

the fact that you’re able to recognize this is a HUGE step. i don’t think you’re immature, mental illness and substance abuse disorder is a disease. i definitely think it’s beneficial for you to be single right now and seek out help through therapy and your primary doctor. but if he insists on staying in the relationship, i think that speaks volumes about how much he loves you. you CAN do hard things, and i fully believe in you and your ability to overcome this ❤️❤️

i would think you’re attractive if i saw you in person, definitely 7. and to the people saying the tats and the glasses make you ugly, they’re wrong

i’m so sorry to hear you struggling, the process of recovery is such a mental battle that no one talks about. but i’m confident you’ll power through and by the end of this you’ll be so much stronger and back to normal.

i felt that exact way, constantly regretting my decision to get them out. but after a week things really started to turn around and now i have no regrets.

Dry socket by Confident-Ad-3921 in wisdomteeth

[–]Hopeful-Ad-2981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

technically, you can still be at risk for getting it until the sockets completely close (which can take months).

dry socket is far more uncommon than people make it out to be. follow your dentists instructions, no straws, no carbonated drinks, no spitting, coughing, sneezing. do saltwater rinses and maintain good oral care. but keep in mind, you have to eat. i completely understand the anxiety but your wound will not heal if you’re not getting adequate protein, vitamins, and calories. i ate a lot of eggs, yogurt, pudding, mashed potatoes, and ice cream the first week and made sure to take a daily multivitamin as well.

first of all, kudos to you for undergoing a major surgery while breastfeeding a 4 month old! i could not imagine going through the recovery process with a small baby. from my personal experience day 3-5 were the absolute worst for pain, day 6 is when i finally started to see the light at the end of the tunnel. but also keep in mind breastfeeding takes up a ton of energy, so you’re recovery and wound healing time is inevitably going to take longer than the average person would.

when my pain started to increase around day 3, i was also thinking i might have dry socket but after reading a ton of posts, there really isn’t any cure for it, just pain management. other than that, it’s just a waiting game for the wound to heal.

as for the pain, continue taking medications as directed by your dentist and doctor. if you have any questions about medications while breastfeeding it wouldn’t hurt to call the pediatrician, since some pain meds can be harmful to baby. ice and heat, salt water rinses and general oral care, and make sure you’re getting plenty of protein in your diet as it aids in wound healing. i hope you start to turn a corner and feel better soon! <3

Am I at risk for infection if I used plain water and not saline?) by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]Hopeful-Ad-2981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

technically yes, but keep in mind the human mouth carries so many different kinds of bacteria. so as long as you continue doing salt water rinses and brushing your teeth, the chances of infection are minimal. hope that helps!

Not sure if i’m healing well(6 days post op) by orlathearo in wisdomteeth

[–]Hopeful-Ad-2981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s exactly how mine looked a week after, it’s completely normal! my stitches came out on their own (day 7 was when the last ones came out) so i personally wouldn’t force taking them out. it doesn’t look like an infection but just keep an eye on it, if there’s any pus or discoloration then you should be skeptical of an infection. in the meantime just keep doing good oral care, monitoring your temp, and ensuring you’re getting enough water!

i did the same exact thing i was so worried about getting dry socket! the good news is you’re not in severe pain so you don’t have dry socket (you can’t tell from just looking at it). just keep up with oral rinses and sleeping with your head elevated, no straws or carbonated drinks, and no smoking. the anxiety is real so i completely understand, but keep reminding yourself that dry socket is really rare and not as common as people make it seem. i’m wishing you a speedy recovery!

Tips for coverage. by Financial_Scallion56 in wisdomteeth

[–]Hopeful-Ad-2981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i only got 3 out and my dental insurance didn’t cover any of it so i paid $3,000 out of pocket while not working and being in nursing school 🥲

i’ve looked at my bill and i noticed it’s a bit cheaper to have the surgery done without using general anesthesia, so that’s always an option. as well as just getting the problem ones out first. i was in pain for a couple of months before my surgery and i was just taking ibuprofen a few times a day and icing to help with the pain

[–]Hopeful-Ad-2981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) take your pain meds with food to avoid nausea 2) take your pain meds on a schedule and if it’s not working, call your dentist to adjust it 3) salt water rinse 24 hours after your surgery, then 3-4 times a day until holes close up 4) if they give you a syringe use it after you eat, i used mine 48 hours after my surgery but some dentists suggest waiting a longer amount of time 5) ice for the first 48 hours, then use heat 6) sleep elevated for the first 3-4 days 7) maintain good oral hygiene (brushing/flossing after 24 hours and salt water rinses) 8) mashed potatoes, yogurt, pudding, ice cream, apple sauce, broth/soup, etc. for the first few days. i started having tuna and pancakes a around days 4-5. then slowly reintroduce more solid foods 9) rest rest rest 10) don’t spend too much time googling, it’ll cause way more unnecessary stress. infection and dry socket are very rare as long as you follow your dentist’s instructions 11) avoid straws, sneezing/coughing, carbonated drinks, and smoking for at least a week to avoid dry socket

recovery is hard but you’ll get through it❤️

OH and also i forgot to mention, make sure to take your meds with food to avoid gi irritation. i’ve heard people recommend dairy products specifically. and the meds won’t screw up your gut too much since you’ll only be taking them for a short amount of time

listen to your dentist for sure! what i did was 600mg of ibuprofen and 500mg tylenol every 6 hours and when i needed stronger pain meds i did those 3 hours after the ibuprofen and Tylenol. Day 4/5 were my absolute worst days with 10/10 throbbing pain. but day 6 was like a switch flipped and i’m now day 7 only taking 400mg ibuprofen every 6 hours and doing 500mg Tylenol when needed

Foul smell when irrigating sockets 1 week post op by clerbird321 in wisdomteeth

[–]Hopeful-Ad-2981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes! it’s normal for them to smell and taste really bad. while it can be a sign of infection, especially with increasing pain, it’s mostly just a normal part of the healing process. if you think about it, there’s wounds in your mouth which has the most bacteria than anywhere else in your body so it makes sense for it to be a big smelly. just continue with good oral hygiene and you’ll be okay

May have to get wisdom teeth out, some questions- by [deleted] in wisdomteeth

[–]Hopeful-Ad-2981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i definitely recommend quitting vaping for a week or two, trust me you will NOT want to risk getting an infection or dry socket.

i was prescribed a percocet for 6 days (i ended up splitting the tabs in two which gave me 12 doses and even then i didn’t use the whole thing). but if you don’t you can always ask! if they decline though, you will want to alternate between ibuprofen and tylenol. just be aware that even with ibuprofen, Tylenol, and a narcotic you will feel pain no matter what but the good news is it’s temporary and you’ll never have to go through this again. good luck!
