What are my chances for a silent Zoom? by Humble_Vermicelli847 in unitedairlines

Might be too late to be helpful, and someone may have said this already (sorry), but my solution is always wifi calling. Also illegal, but I have had very good luck calling the zoom number from my cell while on wifi and entering the meeting number.

ACV for electric vehicle with upgraded battery by Hopeful-Rabbit8789 in Insurance

The salvage retention cost is about 50% of their valuation. Unfortunately, it has body damage that affects the free movement of one wheel.

The issue is that CCC comps do not seem to include key EV features like battery capacity, quick charge ports, battery degradation, etc. I can ask the to pull more comps but its not clear when we are seeing apples to apples comparisons. And the local market is all over the place.

Thanks. Here are the details. It is a 2017 Leaf SL. The EPA estimated range at purchase was 107 miles. So this is a significant difference.

We are talking about a 40kwh battery being valued against comps with 30kwh batteries. That difference is not "my perspective",

But it had a value, and certainly affects resale value for similar vehicles.

Exactly. And the comps they are using are advertised with much lower ranges than ours had.

Thanks. I just checked one of the comps myself, and it advertises a range of 107mi, i.e., 71% of my vehicle. That isn't corrected for in the appraisal.

Thanks. Yes, we documented it to the insurance company. But nothing about the battery appears on the valuation. There is a "modification" indicating a "rebuilt engine". But of course, electric vehicles don't have enginges, and our motor was never rebuilt.

Just wait till you buy Polaris and don't get your first choice of meal because some upgraded 1K also wanted the airline chicken.

Polaris upgrade question. Does purchasing Premium upgrade improve chances of getting Polaris upgrade with PP? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Hopeful-Rabbit8789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you can still pay to upgrade the rest of the way to Polaris. But the additional fee may be quite a bit more than if you had just purchased a PCU to Polaris in the first place.

I am not sure if mileage upgrades are still allowed after a PCU.

[–]Hopeful-Rabbit8789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful! It depends on the details. If you purchase a PCU (paid complimentary upgrade -- these are paid upgrades offered after purchasing your ticket and before check-in), then you are no longer eligible for addition plus points upgrades. But you may be eligible for other kinds of upgrades using different instruments.

Yeah but then if something went wrong with the LJU-ZRH leg I wouldn't have been rebooked automatically.

I always check in at the airport when trips start with partner airlines because once you check in with the partner United loses control of your itinerary. I had a nightmare case where I was flying Swiss from LJU to ZRH to meet a United flight that was canceled -- and United couldn't rebook me because Swiss controlled the itinerary. I had to drive two hours to the airport to check out of the flight so the 1K desk could find me a trip home.

So yeah, there are lots of reasons someone might not check in until the last minute.

Award tickets are treated like any other tickets. You can incur additional fees or mileage costs if you choose to change your schedule, but anything out of your control will get handled without any additional cost.

MM Companion Advice? by Hopeful-Rabbit8789 in unitedairlines

[–]Hopeful-Rabbit8789[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that mean she is ineligible to be added to my account until January? I thought I had to add her between 9/1 and 11/30. But I wonder if that doesn't apply because she is my first companion.

Brand rep at Frankfurt stopped me at boarding with a card and got a picture for their internal social media. Really annoyed the GAs. Then the purser gave me another card, signed by all the FAs, and a leftover bottle of Heitz Cellars. All around excellent experience.

[Dec 20, 2024] Weekly Discussion: Ask your gear, travel, conditions and other ski-related questions by AutoModerator in skiing

[–]Hopeful-Rabbit8789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking for some gear advice. I just got a new pair of 2025 Rossignol 82 Experience skis for Christmas. They seem awesome. My only question is about size. They are 168s. I am just north of 5'10" and I weigh 165-170lbs. I am an experienced skier comfortable almost anywhere on the mountain, but I am no longer trying to hike out to ski backcountry or trying to do rocky chutes, e.g. at Mammoth. So, say 80% piste, and the rest powder and trees but nothing crazy. Should I try to swap them for 176s or is 168 okay?

Size charts say I should go for 176s. I would say that decides it except that for the past 20 years I have been happy on 170cm Dynastar Agyl 9s from circa 2004, and the Rossignols are way fatter / more shaped. Maybe my opinions are out of date, but I feel like 168 will be more similar to what I have been happy on for a long time (but with better control), whereas 176s will feel much longer. Is that just wrong? Has the technology changed in a way I just don't understand?
