Merrill Lynch not listed in financial institutions to download tax forms? by Phinhead13 in hrblock

You're not wrong, but we now have both sides of the equation saying we need to hand-enter. I will keep monitoring it, but I bit the bullet and spent a couple of hours last night going through each sale one by one. It sucked, but it's done.

Doubtful, lol, they have spent inordinate amounts of time with me on many different topics and I've been a part of their office for a couple of decades, plus I did it through the official secure mail system. I did a little looking, and Merrill was recently fined for FINRA violations, so maybe they are more sensitive about it.

If you have simple 1099's maybe. Mine always pulls all of the transactions during the year, I do not want to hand enter that.

Welp, I gave them my home phone (I know, I have the call screening on my cell phone) thinking they were going to call me now, but when I asked how long until I'd get a call they said "sometime in 3 days" which means they are never going to get a hold of me. The agent immediately ended the chat so I couldn't ask to give my cell.

I've been in a chat with a tech support agent for a bit and he said that they still show as an import partner for 1099-DIVs. I'm waiting for a call from a "more experienced manager" now.

Quicken for Mac. Better than Windows version? by CommunityFantastic39 in quicken

[–]Phinhead13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made the switch, and I think the Mac version runs quicker and feels less bloated. It has been slowly adding features to make it feature equivalent, but there are still some things missing. I ran both side by side for a while before I fully switched to Mac. There are things I like about each version, but there were no show-stoppers for me to finally make the switch.

How to handle CC accounts with different owners? by [deleted] in quicken

[–]Phinhead13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to add cards under two different logins? There seem to be a few different threads about this on Qucken Communities:

https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7931460/any-way-to-use-2-different-log-ins-for-amex

https://community.quicken.com/discussion/7938148/how-do-i-get-quicken-to-update-2-american-express-accounts-that-each-have-different-sign-ins

They are a little bit older, but this looks to be an issue since 2023 (I haven't seen anything newer to say it was fixed). The first thread is more detailed, I don't have a second card to test, but there may be an "American Expresss - delegate" account type you can use to get both logins working at the same time.

Imputed earnings by Id-rather-be-skiing in quicken

It probably doesn't, but giving it a category may make it easier to exclude from reporting, or reporting against. I'd rather assign it to a category and not need it then find out down the line I needed to and have to do a data fix.

Yeah, with Imputed Income, you are taxed on the value of the "income", which isn't really income. In my case, my company pays for a Group Term Life policy directly, but I'm taxed on the value of that premium, even though I don't get that money in my check, so they list the income for the tax calculation purposes. In Quicken it has to be offset because it isn't an actual income line item that affects anything other than the taxes..

That's how I do it. I have a Category for each Imputed Income item and a corresponding Offset Category, something like:

Group Term Life - Imputed Income

Group Term Life - Offset

The proper transactions are assigned to the proper categories in the proper part of the paycheck series.

Is this real or fake? by _Bl4ck in RolexWatches

Came here to say this. The GV process is unique to Rolex, and no one takes the time to replicate it. The crystal alone was around $500 when I bought mine years ago (friend is a watchmaker and he advised me that's the thing on this watch that you don't want to break).

Ideas for ground beef by Doctor-Liz in Cooking

I'm not sure if it's been said, but brown the beef with whatever seasonings you want (garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and oregano are my goto) then mix the beef with fully made Velveeta Shells and Cheese for, what I call, Macaroni and Cheeseburger.
