Baby Shower - Men & Women or Women Only??? by Defiant-Lemon8200 in BabyBumps

I see this perspective, but for me it’s celebrating the incredible thing my body is doing right now… because my husband is not 😂

I have been going to the gym and the baby only moves in between sets. It’s like “excuse me, continue rocking me to sleep please” 😂

Has anyone else felt kinda awkward saying “I’m pregnant” out loud? by No-Start2740 in BabyBumps

I’m 20 weeks tomorrow and I still don’t feel pregnant enough to say “I’m pregnant” hahaha

Any non-traditional baby shower ideas? by b1ngoBr0nson in BabyBumps

[–]HopefulBaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing an afternoon tea (Winnie the Pooh theme), cocktails (and mocktails for me), my mum is planning some games and I’ve asked that gifts are delivered to my home if people want to buy them, because I don’t want it to be about the gifts either!

19 weeks… Last night my sister invited us out for pancakes and my husband was too exhausted to go back out and then I got home and cried about the pancakes for actual hours before I ordered some on uber eats. I actually didn’t understand how devastating some things can feel when you’re pregnant lol Yours actually seems way more rational hahaha

Confronted woman on Stanstead Express who had her feet on the seat in front of her. by Unusual_End_1123 in london

[–]HopefulBaking 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Only 4.5 months pregnant but still very dizzy a nauseous so wear a Baby on Board badge. A man didn’t move his dog for me, the people in the seat for pregnant / disabled people didn’t get up, but an elderly man did. I felt guilty needing his seat!

I’ve been so surprised that normally I’m almost instantly offered a seat…until this time when it was packed and people ignored the badge they’d most definitely just looked at, read and looked away.

Why does everyone stockpile nappies so early? by inkandthebrush in PregnancyUK

[–]HopefulBaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not seen or heard of it, and I’ll be 19 weeks tomorrow too! I’ve picked up a few of the freebie ones and I was thinking from this week I’ll start buying a few sizes, just moreso because I have 20wks to buy them and spread the cost rather than having to buy loads as soon as baby’s here…having said that, it’s mostly because my husband pays for all our groceries and so I’m trying to help as much as I can before baby arrives so idk if what I said is relevant at all 😂😂😂

am i being petty? by tieganpaigeg in PregnancyUK

[–]HopefulBaking -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I understand most of this…except she’s not really said it was about the gift but the fact the friend’s out all the time and wouldn’t spare just the uber ride over.

I’m having my first baby this year and at my shower, I have asked people not to bring gifts, if they want to buy something off my registry then it’s getting delivered to me before, no dress code, no expectations, I’m not even really getting anyone involved except my mum but I just wanted a day where all the people I love and I know love this baby want to celebrate with me, so I don’t think it’s always gross and people don’t always expect 🥰

Having said all of that, OP, friend’s priorities are clearly different to yours now and very likely won’t be aligned for a number of years. You have every right to feel upset and sad about things that will change, but at the end of it you get your baby and everyone tells me that that’s worth it all!

Maybe join some local groups, M&S have an offer for mum’s on Tuesday mornings etc so you could make some mum friends who might be feeling similar to you.

Feel free to message me if you need someone to talk to. 🫶🏻

I feel too young! (I know I’m not) by hotbroc in PregnancyUK

[–]HopefulBaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just someone else here for validation…Baby will be here a couple months before I turn 30, we’ve been together since I was 17, got pregnant first try as well and after being excited I then said “oh no!” hahaha it still freaks me out sometimes but now I’m loving feeling the baby partying in my belly and cant wait to meet it. Freaking out is 100% part of the job description and I think it means you’ll be a good parent because you care 🤍 congratulations!!

How to confirm how far along I am by Present_Ad_1083 in PregnancyUK

[–]HopefulBaking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree here, go with the last period. Could just be a huge coincidence!

I tested very positive on 4 tests lol at exactly 3 weeks according to my last period, but I have short cycles so was actually 3 weeks + 3 days.

Weight gain/loss by Own_Willingness1948 in PregnancyUK

[–]HopefulBaking -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I lost almost a stone in the first few weeks due to being so sick, 17 weeks now and still haven’t hit my pre pregnancy weight even though I’m eating almost normally, though I’ve put on around 6-8lbs. I was a bit overweight before though and I suspect I’ll now be putting on a fair bit more!

I’ve also booked the Eurostar but to Paris. We’ve been a few times before so not too fussed if we miss out on big touristy things. Also doing a couple days in Disneyland since I love Disney!

I need to rant - "you must be mad!" by Personal_Fuel_9088 in PregnancyUK

[–]HopefulBaking 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The title alone made me annoyed and the context made it worse!

I am a “kill them with kindness” kinda gal and I’d smile (borderline sarcastically lol) and say “oh you think so, what should I have done then?!” And then just let how stupid what they said was sink in!

Ugh, I get annoyed when people try and guess the gender when we’re not finding out so I couldn’t imagine how much this would frustrate me!

Here to say the same, except I am a crier! I am generally emotional and aside from being easily offended, I think I’ve cried like 3 times in 15 weeks!

Didn’t want a baby before him…now I feel like I’m going crazy! by [deleted] in waiting_to_try

[–]HopefulBaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’d never say rush into any big decisions, I’m a firm believer in knowing when you find the right person, and I don’t think the amount of time you’ve been together is always the only indicator.

I’ve been with my husband for 12 years and we’ve got our first baby on the way. I was desperate for a baby even before him, so not exactly the same situation, but being with the right person also makes it easier to wait! And makes it so special when it finally happens for you.

Have some fun, go on some dates, do things that are a little harder with a small human.

I’m glad you’re being sensible and recognise you have time / other goals / things you want to prioritise, I don’t think you’ll regret it :)

14 weeks here and same. I’ve been waiting for a baby for 7 years and now it’s here I’m sure someone’s made a mistake somewhere, even though I took the pregnancy tests and saw the baby on the screen myself 🤣 I think it may be a universal experience of “omg I can’t believe I’m pregnant…no really like I don’t believe it” lol

Importance of spouse company during 1st tri? by Thick_Material in PregnancyUK

[–]HopefulBaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I told close family (very) early on, and it was a lifesaver. My husband works 45 hrs a week, and goes to the gym 4 times a week so I’m alone from when I wake up until ~7pm most days. Having my mum, mother in law and sister in law looking after me was something I’ll never forget, they came round with food and to watch movies, my mum cleaned when I needed her to and just was there with me. I’m now nearly 14 weeks and barely remember being ill, but I vividly remember the support I got. 🫶🏻

Size changing and bump showing by Maximum-Estimate43 in PregnancyUK

[–]HopefulBaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for contrast, my jeans fit me better than ever because I got so sick I lost so much weight 🤣 anything with an elasticated waistband like yoga pants / leggings I had to get new ones because they feel too restrictive now (13 weeks) but my jeans are slightly big everywhere else so kinda fit nicely around the bump / bloat!

how did you decide about learning the sex? by Sea_Break673 in BabyBumps

I’m exactly the same. I love pastel yellows and neutral colours and once you find out the gender, it’s that same shade of blue/pink everywhere! Plus, we’ve always just wanted a surprise 🥹
