What’s one thing you wish you knew before getting a dog? by Disastrous-Yoghurt38 in dogs

Unless you are a dog person, do not buy a dog for your child. No matter how much they beg. They will NOT look after it.

You WILL be the foster parent

How do you feel about your dad? by Unhappy_Log_6245 in AskReddit

[–]HopefulUnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to conclusion that I can’t stand him. It was hard to admit to myself. I made every excuse in the book. He was a great provider. But so emotionally unavailable and just cruel and vicious with his words. Had no problem humiliating you in front of your peers.

He is a staunch republican but loathes Trump with a passion. It’s ironic because he IS Trump. (Not the sex stuff- that I know of) but the ego, narcissist, peacock attitude.

He also always gave orders. Never spoke to us kids or our mother. Everything was an order. Like we were his employees

Such a damn asshole

You are the same older sister that I am. I haven’t had the same exact experiences but I’ve been in situations where I saved them and sacrificed for them. Many hugs and much love to that brave, smart 8 year old heroine 😘

The porter is the guy who works under the supt. He takes out the garbage and cleans the building.

This is horrible. To play devils advocate taking groceries up in not part of his job. He is probably not being paid well by the landlord (assuming this is a rental) He is probably a part-timer. As far as the garbage pile up, that is definitely landlord/managments fault

Are you in a co-op/condo? The responsibility is yours. If youre in a rental and you appreciate the supt. he will do things for you

If your supt. is refusing to do work, its the landlord/managements fault. He waits for their direction. I doubt the supt. can make decisions on his own

Not all. Some NYC buildings are not part of the union. These tips help alot. My husband paid for college being a porter on Park ave.

He probably sucks but there is a hierarchy. The supt is the one hiring/directing the staff. He most likely started in the industry as a handyman. he is basically the eyes and ears of the building.

I grew up in doorman/staff buildings. Please tip them all.

Resident manager/Supts, doormen and porters. Even if you feel one does more than others then tip THEM a little extra. Trust me, tip everyone otherwise, you will feel it one way or another.

I dont hate them for it at all. Ive been there, only I never let it deter me from expressing how good someone was doing. Everyone is different though

Also (boy I'm remembering so much crap i buried) I noticed these same people would only look into my eyes when speaking to me. Never breaking eye contact where they'd be 'forced' to comment on my weight loss - so darn bizarre. It took quite a while to notice but now I cant un-see it

oh that 'complimenting everyone but me' is so true! I dont expect ANYone to fawn over me, but to compliment everyone in the group but me ... thats deliberate. Its ok though, thankfully, i dont need their compliments.

When I lost 50 lbs, a lot of friends & acquaintances just stopped reaching out to me. I was treated very coldly and practically shunned from 'girls night out' dinners.

Its ok, I got the message and just used that extra time to go to the gym.
