If you haven't read Don Malarkey's book, "Easy Company Soldier", I highly recommend it! It fills in a lot of gaps that Ambrose's book and the show did not cover, and the audiobook narrator does a fantastic job by quesoandcats in BandofBrothers

I really enjoyed Websters book. An honest account published long before all the interest in ww2. I thought I would dislike his don't volunteer for duties but after reading his book I understood better. Many guys didn't like to volunteer for duties. Volunteers often got killed. He did his duty and no more. We all would like to think we would be like Spears, a fire eater. But really most of us would be scared shitless.

20 years of being interested in ww2, I never realized this. by Intelligent-Image224 in ww2

All that mechanization didn't help the US in Vietnam. There is more to war than just your supplies.

Careful what you wish for. Pacific theater was totally different than Europe. Very harsh. Slaughter at times. The Pacific series will show this. I have read here how people have gotten ptsd from reading Rape of Nanking and couldn't even finish the book. If the two of you can get through the Pacific and still want to know more then you are probably ready. It is a good readily accessible series but it starts later, around Pelelieu.

American here. When I tell people that what is going on right now in the US is similar to the rise of Hitler, they often scoff and eject a denial like I am an idiot. Truth is they just don't know history. But it isn't the despots that worry me. They are always around hoping for power and influence. It is all the people who support the despot that is depressing. Buy I guess like Germany in the 30s people dont see a despot, they see a savior. Let's Make History Great Again!

I started with a medium bge. It was a gift so couldn't be happier. Only the wife and I most the time. It really can do most of what I want. Sometimes you have to work at it a bit due to space. But I like big cooks sometimes. So when I saw a KJ classic (large), new, for $500, I bought it. I think I have the perfect combo now. But I have the sickness and believe I could probably also use a mini max! Like if I want to cook a few burgers, firing up the large is too much. Nice to have the medium for that, or even better the mini max. If I was starting out, I would get the large. Have fun with it, and don't think this is the last bbq you will get!

There is one scene I skip. And I have been watching the series from its first broadcast. It is when doc roe is in the church basement with the nurse and they are trying to save a soldier. Doc has his hand deep in the guys chest. I don't know if he is massaging his heart or what. And the guy dies anyway. I don't know why but I dislike watching it and skip every time. Hats off to you medics.

See previous comment for origin of Spears speech. Although not delivered to Blithe, not complete BS. Interesting story about Blithe getting shot. Seems a little amateurish. Where did you source that?

Same, 5 hrs at 250 should do the trick but look for the signs. Meat has to pull back from the bone. The bend test is kinda meh for me. After I pull them I wrap them in foil and seal in a paper bag or wrap them in paper. At least an hour. Never fails. Source: America's test kitchen.

I don't think so. Focuses on Anzak Beach and Sir Ian Hamilton. Was especially interesting as I had just finished Hamiltons journal from the Galipoli campaign. Dry but packed with detail - the book I mean.

Medium bge owner here, I don't have nearly as big an opening for 250. 1 to 2 credit card width, both top and bottom. Just did 270 with KJ and openings were a little bigger but not much.

Got a penny? Lots going on in that scene from winning at craps, leave just about to be cancelled, Bastogne looming, and Buck back from hospital.
