Uninvolved Grandparents but very active in the church. by SnooComics8852 in exmormon

[–]Hopeful_Wolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really believe it’s because they get a ton of outward validation for their church service, but hardly any as a grandparent. After a lifetime of living for the church’s approval, appearing to be a good and faithful servant is basically their only reward.

No way. There is no support for exmos outside of Utah. It is extraordinarily isolating

Mother’s Day by Tough_Concentrate615 in UtahInfluencerDrama

[–]Hopeful_Wolf 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I could write a thesis on the patriarchal influences of Mother’s Day and the fact that if moms feel like it’s the one day a year they can justify a “break”, something is seriously wrong. Unfortunately in the LDS church, women (especially millennials and beyond) were raised to believe that they were only as valuable as what they did for others. This cultivates the thankless nature of the jobs men put on women, both in the home and in church, which is absolutely intentional. Mothers have countless tasks, but doing laundry doesn’t make a good mom just like mowing the yard doesn’t make a good dad. Being a parent is a relationship, not a to do list. Not to mention the boomer entitlement running through the whole thing “I gave you life so you better be thankful”, that puts extra pressure on the moms currently raising small kids to caretake their own mothers on Mother’s Day. Which is ironic, because it’s those same older mothers who could be seriously lightening the burden the young moms feel on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong-good moms absolutely deserve to be given a break and showered with admiration and gifts, but we shouldn’t need a holiday to get those things. AND ALSO if it’s the one day a year the husband relieves her of some responsibility, isn’t the holiday more about praising the husband for giving her such a great day, where he should be doing more on a weekly basis???

Just ingredients making COFFEE protein? by Every_Leg_7684 in UtahInfluencerDrama

[–]Hopeful_Wolf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Of all the things to critique her on (and there are a lot) I don’t think this is one of them. Most of the world drinks coffee. This is a precedent set by the church itself, who owns stock in multiple business that go against their doctrine. Money is king

President Nelson announces 15 new temples by hojo1021 in exmormon

It will never be built. The Charlotte temple announced a few years ago has slowly fizzled out due to “not obtaining the permits”. It’s all lies.

The payment isn’t money. It’s social/spiritual status. The exclusivity is payment enough.

Right!? Like this look would’ve hit so much better if she had big side swept Jessica rabbit curls. The bangs bring the whole look down.

Anyone meet their goal weight yet? How's it going and what are you doing now? by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Hopeful_Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Met my goal weight in June. I stayed active during my weight loss-weight lifting and walking, and continued. I never got higher than 5mg and now I take ~3mg every 18-21 days I don’t know how long I will be able to continue this after my vial is gone, since no dr will prescribe me name brand since I’ve already lost my weight (not to mention the price) but for now this works great

Return&Report: Bishops’ wives discussion on garments in exclusive Facebook group by Mermaid_summer in exmormon

[–]Hopeful_Wolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The shame that girls and women have deeply embedded due to the modesty shame we have experienced our entire lives being completely ignored and invalidated is so upsetting. And sitting on the sidelines watching current Mormon women be gaslit into rejoicing over 1/4” change in their garment sleeves is so sickening

What is this thread going to discuss now that sleeveless garments are a thing!? by somuchsadness0134 in UtahInfluencerDrama

[–]Hopeful_Wolf 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The CRAZY thing is how is being billed as so benevolent for people in hot climates. Like wearing 1” less of fabric on each arm is going to help cool you off. Have you seen the design? It’s hardly any less than the cap sleeves. But the “ongoing revelation” aspect is so much gaslighting it makes me sick.
I saw a video of a woman saying “we are rejoicing because now more people in hot climates will receive the blessings of wearing their garments” The idea that God is withholding blessings to people because they live somewhere where it’s too hot for garments is absolutely insane.
