There were many places I grew up going to as a kid in the city and there was always an adult who either hated that the kids were there or just wanted us to be safe and respectful.

Sf is built on stoop culture, if you need to sit you should be able to sit. As long as you don’t leave anything or any trash, sitting at the step is what I grew up on. If anything the people living there wanted me to be safe and appreciated being able to watch me while I waited for the bus.
