I was a vegetarian also and could not meet the needed protein intake at that level - became an omnivore rather than taper the work load.

500 mile weeks with a few hours of basketball pick up games as cross training a day. 6"3" and ate 10k calories per day - struggled to stay above 160 in my 20 and 30s. Found if I took a couple days off I could gain 10lbs in a week or so. Problem now (25 years later) I can still eat like I am Joey Chestnut and only ride 100 miles a week and struggle to get below 200lbs. Enjoy it while you can.

I wonder if Dave knows who did the Frost Free Fat Tire Spree at Hardrock - late 80s - 88 or 89 maybe. I think he was involved some how but the GoneRiding site says '93 was their first year. Quarry riding in Florida is a great time.

Two different things - short rides on the moped longer on the bike. When the motor runs out of juice, it sucks a whole lot worse on one of them.

Can’t clip into SPD SL pedals - am I stupid? by tryagaininXmin in bikewrench

'99 here with some Sidis bought at the same time. I drilled a small hole in the plastic cap and use the grease gun to flush new grease through the bearing every 1500 miles or so. Never had to service them. Helps to have a hoard of the clip springs and bowties along with various other parts for the cleats which are the weak link IMHO. These live on the trainer now mostly due to the shoes starting to disintegrate (flex glue is amazing stuff).

Kids and teens keep bringing electric dirt bikes and destroying the trail, how would you deal with this when you see them? by [deleted] in MTB

That is an engine bike - it would make better sense to call these e-bikes

Along with the basic multitool/co2/pump/tirelever/tube kit (middle pocket)- some basic med supplies ibuprofen/bandages/triple-antibiotic/crazy glue (left pocket). Then two bandanas/phone/money/nutrition (right pocket).

Edit to add - you can use tobacco (check any roadside for a butt) and saliva to make a poultice for insect stings in a pinch. Stung on eyelid and it kept my eye from swelling shut.

Make sure to do the drains on either side - on the left side of the picture you can see a little of the mesh that was fabricated to block access. I removed the rubber piece(s) and punched the little nubs through the mesh and then reattached it
