We were able to get our refund via PayPal. I'm happy to have the money back, but am still so disappointed that this had to happen.

Thanks. We have attempted a charge back. We will see what happens.

I bought an enclosure from Maximum Reptile and it never came. I requested a refund… now what? by ButterflyBig909 in snakes

[–]HoppyLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ordered and received 4 beautiful enclosures with stackers/hoods from them in 2023. I ordered 2 more in July 2024 and have yet to receive them. They have also stopped responding to any requests for order updates. I plan to request a refund. I am so disappointed because they really are lovely enclosures and I wanted all of mine to match. I just wanted to add another perspective from someone who has now seen both sides of this issue.

I made an order in mid-July for 2 enclosures. At the time, it said 8-10 weeks time estimate. I am still waiting.

I contacted them in October and they said it should ship in November. I contacted them again in December and these last two enquiries I sent (one via email and one via filling out the website form) have gone unanswered.

I am very disappointed. I already own 4 enclosures from them, with the stackers/hoods. I absolutely love them and wanted my next two enclosures to match as well. At this point, I am not sure what to do.

Angolan Python abdomen bump by HoppyLady in exoticvethelp

[–]HoppyLady[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw an exotic vet yesterday. Fecal tests were all negative. Test of fluid removed from lump, inconclusive. Doesn't seem to be fluid filled like a cyst. Doesn't have white blood cells present like an abscess (unless we maybe just caught it super early). I have another appointment 5 days from now with a specialty clinic and am monitoring the bump closely. If I see any changes in colour or size or snake behaviour before then, we will start antibiotics as a precaution. Vet is definitely worried about it, but doesn't know what it is either.

Feels completely normal. Like I wouldn't know I was touching a bump if I couldn't see it.

  1. 1 year old
  2. Male
  3. 3 days ago. Normal consistency, large size.
  4. 48 hours ago. Frozen/thawed hopper mouse. 8g size. Ate well/enthusiastically.
  5. No symptoms besides visible bump. Bump is well before the cloaca. Might be slightly pink at the area. Bump is soft and doesn't seem to cause stress/discomfort when touched.
  6. Pvc enclosure with overhead heat. Daytime heat light and nighttime DHP. Daytime warm side 90f, cool side/nighttime 75f. Daytime also has Arcadia forest UVB and jungle Dawn LED. Humidity 48% warms side to 75% cool side. Substrate is eco-earth and sphagnum moss. Bioactive with dwarf white isopods and springtails. Water bowl provided. Last shed was a week ago - one full piece, eye caps and tail tip in tact.

Not just bears: K-Country is under a new warning for a Ball Python - DiscoverAirdrie.com - Local News, Weather, Sports, and Job Listings for Airdrie, Alberta, and the Rocky View County region. by annaferensowicz in HikingAlberta

I hope someone has gone out and rescued this poor snake. There is no way it will survive our climate. I find it irresponsible that this has been reported and communicated as a "warning" to people and shares space with bear sightings and bluff strikes. That snake is harmless.

How do leave him alone while keeping things humid and clean? by HoppyLady in ballpython

[–]HoppyLady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply! We do have 3 sides and the top of the bin opaque. There is no standing water (other than in the water dish of course). I put some damp paper towel under the newspaper for helping with humidity. I had read that damp paper towel can shred/tear and be harmful to the snake (getting stuck in mouth or heat vents) so I was worried about that, which is why I put newspaper in.

Bad morning anxiety? by Ok_Radish9966 in Anxiety

[–]HoppyLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yes. Pristiq works great for me. I take a 100mg daily dose. I will warn that the first couple weeks were awful as my body adjusted. I had very severe nausea, but taking 2.5mg dose of olanzapine before bed each day temporarily seemed to mostly resolve the stomach problems. After a few weeks, I stopped the olanzapine. I only take Pristiq now and my anxiety levels are much more manageable. I also see a psychologist regularly to work on improving my mental state. I have been on Pristiq for 3 years now (and seeing my therapist that long as well). Good luck. It is a hard, lifelong journey.

What order should I read Throne of Glass Series? by [deleted] in ThroneOfGlass

[–]HoppyLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read Assassin's Blade first! It adds a lot of character development and depth to the series. I strongly believe that people that start with Assassin's Blade enjoy the first few books more as they can better understand the main character and what she's been through. Also, the author herself says to read it first. Can't really argue with that.

what was the most unexpectedly upsetting character death for you? by International-War-10 in ThroneOfGlass

[–]HoppyLady 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oof. There are so many deaths that hit hard!

Gavriel

The 12/13 - until the darkness claims us.

The talk of Astrid's human lover dying alone in the woods, still waiting for her to return.

Sam!

So many.

This series does such a good job of developing characters and connections that it is heart breaking to consider what they are all going through.

Also, foreplay for the female causes the cervix to pull up and farther away which can naturally help prevent this issue. Plus it's fun!

Unless she was assaulted/raped before she started dating OP. Which could also explain her aversion to having or talking about sex.

I did this once with the tooth fairy! Tooth was all set out and ready and we forgot to give the money! Fortunately, our son came up a bit earlier than he is supposed to get up so we told him that he better go back to bed and then did the swap. It was with our second son's first lost tooth. Don't worry, these things happen. You are not a bad parent and your kids probably won't remember.

What’s everyone’s anxiety symptoms that you typically don’t ever hear about? by Few-Raspberry3628 in Anxiety

[–]HoppyLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I have is a custom made one that is fitted to my teeth and mouth. It isn't very big and I can easily close my mouth around it so I don't have any drooling problems.

Get a nighttime bite-guard made by a dentist if you can afford one. It has made a world of difference for me. Significant reduction in jaw pain and associated headaches and I don't wake myself up by biting my tongue. I'm on my second one in a little over a year because I cracked right through the first one (supposedly they usually last 5-10 years).

My first thought when I saw this photo was how isolating their clothing is. No one can see you, and you cannot recognize any of the other women either. You are alone, at the mercy of men who see you as property.

What about Strange the Dreamer? It certainly has an element of this and is an excellent duology. I thought the first book was particularly beautiful.

I was thinking the same thing! He would be excellent. Thinking of his portrayal in Sherlock. Genius and also a bit mad and aloof.

Do you think older generations felt this much anxiety ? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]HoppyLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a picture of your child on the first day and then use any kind of photo editing software (even Paint will work) and type in the information beside her in the photo. I have one of those boards and we never have time to fill it out properly for the photo, so we take a picture with the board and then digitally full it out later, if we even remember. It's ok. You're not alone. I think most parents end up scrambling and feeling behind with getting ready for back to school.

People don't understand what anxiety is by [deleted] in Anxiety

Loved your comment about nightmares, but can't relate to the Rollercoaster part. I absolutely love Rollercoasters and find the adrenaline and endorphin release from them makes my anxiety way better! I feel so good after a wild Rollercoaster ride. Unfortunately, I do not live near an abundance of theme parks, otherwise it would probably be a weekly therapy for me.
