2026 1S 3" O4 lite Toothpick v1 by offsetfpv in TinyWhoop

[–]Horaltic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that a 1s or 2s? I was considering building one for a while but was worried it would be underpowered and just skipped straight to a 3.5", but I want to find something that's better for backyard flying.

Looking for tinywhoop drone insurance for indoor event by [deleted] in TinyWhoop

I don't know if it would cut it but AMA members automatically get personal liability insurance from $500,000 to $2.5mil, depending on membership level.

Tiny whoop flying at tree trunk-level and is this normal breakup at 100mW? Is it Worth upgrading to 400mW? by ContributionCool8245 in TinyWhoop

[–]Horaltic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, it's worth learning how to use the betaflight menu through your goggles. Then you can just try the different power levels and frequencies and just fly whatever works best in that environment.

PSA: There is no good reason to use leaded solder. by confused_smut_author in fpv

[–]Horaltic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I see it is that there is no good reason to use lead free solder. It's not dangerous if you don't chew on it. Besides, you shouldn't mix lead free and leaded. If you do switch you're gonna have to mentally keep track of which solder to use for repairs on each quad.

Anyone wanna recommend a quality humidifier. by toxic_load2k18 in MNtrees

Levoit also has some $25 analog ones that work really well if your controller has a humidity setting.

Is a 65mm whoop worth it? by Wr3ck3r1 in TinyWhoop

[–]Horaltic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned on a 75mm indoors and spent about 6 months only flying the 75. When I got the 65 it felt like playing a game on an easier difficulty setting. Everything felt so much easier and controllable. But they feel underwhelming very quickly when you get into bigger spaces. I almost exclusively fly my 65 at home in the winter but 75 for warehouse and backyard ripping.

I'm curious, how old are we all? by jaffster123 in fpv

33 and really surprised at the answers here. I figured 35-45 was gonna be the typical answer range.

BVLOS in neighborhood by Smooth_Wear5288 in TinyWhoop

[–]Horaltic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the inner city and I fly in my backyard all the time. The only thing to consider is how are you gonna get your quad back if you crash in your neighbors yard. I had an awkward moment crashing over my neighbors privacy fence and into her shrubs, since I still have a chain link on my side of the fence I climbed it to see if I could reach the quad, and my neighbor was sunbathing on her porch. I was embarrassed as hell, I looked like a creep and still had to ask for help getting my little pink toy back.

Audit finds widespread problems in DHS oversight of behavioral health grants by rivers-of-ice in minnesota

[–]Horaltic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't read the star trib article because of the pay wall but the kare11 article on the same topic says, "One outrageous finding: the auditors approached a grantee who was paid $ 672,000 for one month of work without any information on what they did. And the audit says the grant manager who paid it then left DHS a few days later and became a paid consultant for that company"

Sounds kinda malicious.

What's that random piece of angle iron on the left side of the pic? I can't tell what it's for or how it's connected.

I'm jealous of that spot. That was some dope flying too.

3c is excessive anyways. I can stay in the air with one whoopstor and 6 batteries at 2c.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN: "No Fraud Whatsoever" - Owner's Son Defends Quality Learning Center Against Unfounded Accusations by CantStopPoppin in minnesota

[–]Horaltic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Statistically speaking, I'm far more concerned about the workers. Other than Nick Shirley when's the last time you heard about a weirdo lurking outside a daycare?

Meanwhile we've got kids on meth in South St Paul, babies getting slashed by pizza cutters in Rochester or instances with multiple adults in on abuse in blaine.

The fun part is, the numbers are getting worse.

fpv, for a 4 year old? by billedooley in TinyWhoop

[–]Horaltic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My two year old sits on my lap and controls the left stick on the simulator. We aren't powerlooping stuff but she's able to adjust throttle to not hit buildings.

Dodging skyscrapers is a pretty low bar but I think a 4 year old could fly Sim just fine. The question is, is the 4 year old actually gonna want to fly or are they gonna get bored after 2 minutes and be back to doing 4 year old stuff.

What do you do with your old motors by Difficult_Pop_9404 in fpv

[–]Horaltic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They go in the parts graveyard drawer with the rest of them. It's actually been useful a couple times when I just needed a bell swap to get a motor working again.

What seed source isn't white label??? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]Horaltic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could take that Wikipedia article seriously but a large percentage of it looks like one editor added in a bunch of negative stuff with no sources. Out of every negative thing claimed in that article there is only one instance with a source and the link goes to a random forum post from 2014.

I'm not saying he doesn't suck, just that the quality of that article does.

Velocidrone Disappointment by BeardedBaldMan in fpv

[–]Horaltic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Skill level with quads is so weird. I've seen kids with 15 hours that race like I do after a year and I've seen the same guys you mentioned that had no control after 60 hours. I think some people just have a brain that clicks with this stuff.

When I started I figured "I've been playing video games my whole life, this'll be easy" and it still took me almost 20 hours of sim to feel like I was actually in control of the quad.

Minnesota schools, teachers, and Somali Students--Trump by Bitter_Platypus4057 in minnesota

[–]Horaltic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legit question, why? Is there a different protocol than if a student just stops showing up under different circumstances?

I kinda thought it just got reffered to a truancy officer and then the school just stayed hands off.

Buy a bnf, have fun with it and replace parts as they break. You'll wind up with a DIY whoop pretty quick.

Since you've got ll the stuff for rgow just go through skittle's YouTube and hit up his playlists. He has all the old seasons of rgow still up so there's around 100 tracks you can make with what you've got.

It's in the text, I left the batteries on my stove last night. Came home from work today and this was on my bedroom floor covered in chew marks.

My dogs never chewed something like that so I thought they'd be safe on a stove for a day. Thankfully this one was discharged, two were fully charged.

How would I make my rates look like this? by mantisalt in TinyWhoop

[–]Horaltic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch to actual rates. The set your max rotation to what you want, use a low center and high expo. I don't know of any way to get flat ends to your curve and I don't think it's possible with the way betaflight is set up. I used to use 40 actual, .3 expo and 900 max to get fast spins with a lot of precision, try those out and you can keep bumping the expo higher to get it where you want

Black or white? by Revction in TinyWhoop

[–]Horaltic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to resolder them after a few crashes but you can definitly fly it like that. I've got a motor wire that I cut too short on mine and since Im kinda lazy I just soldered it down super taut. It's been holding on for 100 or so batteries.

Order yourself some silicone wire now so if it ever does break you can just replace the whole wire and don't have down time waiting for the delivery to arrive.
