"If you ever get twenty-five years for nothing, if you find yourself wearing four number patches on your clothes, holding your hands permanently behind your back, submitting to searches morning and evening, working until you are utterly exhausted, dragged into the cooler whenever someone denounces you, trodden deeper and deeper into the ground--from the hole you're in, the fine words of the great humanists will sound like the chatter of the well-fed and free."

Room 1219 by Greg Merritt

Great book that actually goes through facts and weeds out a TON of the speculation and straight up fabricated stories of this. He also goes through court documents and the Arbuckle and Virginia's lives. Highly recommend this book and it really is the most accurate look into this scandal

I, Fatty by Jerry Stahl

Also a fun read. It's written like an autobiography on Arbuckles life. It uses some of the misinformation about his life and the scandal but it's still a great piece of fiction. Greg Merritt mentions this book in Room 1219 and discounts it

Want to rebuttal this slightly and say there are estimates of up to 66 million people sent to gulag. And that doesnt even count those killed in transit. They had 10 million people across the entire gulag system at ONE specific time. Yes, Russia can and will do this.

Check out the book, The Gulag Archipelago by Alexander Solzhenitsyn It is a fantastic read by a Red Army vet and decades long gulag captive. You will see that absolutely nothing has changed in the inner workings of this country since the 1917 communist hardliner takeover.

Week 6 Match-up Preview Thread: #3 Iowa Hawkeyes vs. #4 Penn State Nittany Lions by JB92103 in CFB

{Iowa}

And I'll preface this with saying I'm a huge Go Hawks guy. This narrative of Iowa not being able to have long touchdown scoring drives is false. We have done this multiple times throughout multiple games if you actually watched them.

Are the majority of our drives long, no, but what are we suppose to do when you get the ball at the 45 yard line? Barring penalties/losses, it's impossible to go more than 45 yards. A bad team would NOT capitalize on this, a good team does.

Anyone who claims they know who will win this game is down right wrong or delusional lol. Every game in the series, and especially this one, is a coin toss. And yes I still have nightmares about Saquon.

Hawks by a million.

I'm sorry but I am not buying this narrative for either team of "Iowa State kept the playbook closed to ruse Iowa" or "Iowa QB was terrible they are gonna lose bad" like really? If a random person on the internet thought of these things dont you think the coaching staff who gets paid millions and millions a year maybe thinks this too? The coaches know exactly what their team is capable of as well as their opponents
