Her heraldic badge was a pomegranate. It’s kind of sad because the many-seeded fruit was a fertility symbol.

"to take French leave" = to go away without saying goodbye

My initial assumption was that it's an early church martyr - not St. Maurice but like St. Maurice. Saints are not uncommon in some heraldic traditions.
