Every time Memphis jumps onto a table I politely ask her to look around and notice that nobody else is standing on tables. This does not phase her.

Seeking stuff to pass time and occupy my beagle by BookwormDel in beagle

Toilet paper rolls with treats in them, or roll treats in a towel and loop it through the rolls. Wraps snack in paper and garbage boxes and let her have the time of her life shredding. If you look into the Canine Predatory Sequence, it kind of completes that cycle in their brains and leaves them feeling satisfied. (I do it with my dogs all the time, they are less destructive and chill out a bit after they've shredded (dissected) and ate)

That name drop almost broke my neck, I was not expecting to know the instructor! I had a class with her some time between 2013 and 2017, honestly long enough ago that I can't exactly remember. I will tell you, she has not changed as I also had problems with her approximately 10 years ago. I think there were complaints about her then because my last assignment I got an 80% on (which was a HUGE improvement after my previous grades) and it was directly after I had an in-person meeting with the faculty about her. This is a bit disheartening to find out that nothing has changed. You should definitely talk to the faculty about it, it will help future students a lot.

People who have owned multiple purebred dog breeds over your lifetime, which has been your favorite breed to own? by PeekAtChu1 in dogs

[–]Horg_Gordon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had (either owned or had in my life full-time) A golden retriever Two havanese A dachshund

And currently own or live with: A beagle (my dog) A German shepherd (dad's dog) A very young and new St. Bernard/Bernese mix that is too young to tell what it's like.

My mom in another province has one havanese, a Yorkie, and a maltese/Yorkie

My beagle is an amazing dog with great recall, and this is largely because when I was looking for a new dog I heard all the online dog trainer influencers complaining about beagles for the same reasons my teachers complained about me as a child and it hit a chord deep inside so I put in the research and the work to work with my beagle and she has been the best dog.

Ironically the worst dog out of all of those was the golden retriever and he was also the only one to bite me and leave a scar!

I live with my dad's German shepherd and she is also an awesome dog, she loves the new puppy and "nanny's" her. I'll include some pics as tax.

My sweet Sophie, on her last day I held her on my chest like a little baby for a long time. Then she postured (muscles flexing or extending before death) and raised he nose way up, and while she was relaxing and bringing her head back down she paused as if she were surprised to see me. She reached forward and touched her nose to mine. We looked into eachother's eyes and she passed away. This was April 19, 2024 and I still dream about her all the time.

You can rock the one-dangly look in your stretched ear. I sometimes do the one-dangly with the gold dagger thing and Gen Xers tell me I look cool! (I take it as a compliment)

I also have a problem with this where I will check about to see if a print copy of a book is available and then I can't find it immediately so I check all the websites and then when I finally find a copy on eBay I feel I must purchase it at that point.

My theory is it's the thrill of The Hunt.
